Robert L. Ruppe

Robert Lee Ruppe, 52, of 4th Street Trailer Park, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of Florence Parris Ruppe of Gaffney and the late Robert P. Ruppe. He was employed in construction with R&R Drywall and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a daughter, Penny Bailey of Gaffney; two sisters, Carol Pennington of Blacksburg and Mary Bostic of Gaffney; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Cryptside services will follow at 11 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum conducted by the Rev. Betty Gentry.
Pallbearers will be Scott Bostic, Eddie Bostic Jr., David Childers, Ricky Kennedy, Jo Jo Kennedy and Ricky Pennington.
The family is at the home of Mary Bostic, 141 Forest Hills Dr.
Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John S. Tate
Services for John S. Tate, 89, of 204 Wilkinsville Hwy. will be held today at 3 p.m. at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Cowpens, conducted by the Revs. C. Dennis Rector, Dorothy Davis and Michelle Hodge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grady Lee Hollis
Retired Vulcan Materials
Deacon Grady Lee Hollis, 74, of 411 Park St., husband of Nola Hollis, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at 6:40 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Floyd Hollis and the late Bertha Littlejohn Hollis. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, custodian , chairman of the grave committee, member and leader of the Posey and the Hallelujah choir, Sunday School teacher, former chairman of the deacon board and former superintendent of the Sunday School. He was retired from Vulcan Material Company.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Minnie P. Hollis Smith of Gaffney and a foster brother, J.A. Littlejohn, of Baltimore, Md.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Perry Posey, L.C. Knuckles, Albert Richardson and Dr. Eula Miller. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Shady Grove Baptist Church and honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
Flower bearers will be the deaconesses and Mixed Choir of Shady Grove Baptist Church and his nieces.

William A.C. Oglesby
Army veteran
William A.C. Oglesby, 65, of 712 W. Elm St., Shelby, husband of Abigail Peak Oglesby, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at 2:16 a.m. in Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of Julia Wells Oglesby of Cowpens and the late George Oglesby. He was a retired roofer, an Army veteran and a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Teresa Oglesby and Markita Oglesby of Dayton, Ohio; a son, William Oglesby of Dayton; a step-son, Prentice Peak of Shelby; a sister, Georgia Mae Crockett of Dayton; three brothers, Zebedee Oglesby of Cowpens, Roy Oglesby of Kingstree and Curtis Sims of Willingboro, N.J.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Island Creek Baptist Church with Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr., Evangelist Judy Dover and the Revs. James Armstrong, Mills McHam and Tony Macomson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be members of Island Creek all Male Chorus and flower bearers will be Women of the Church.
Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Irvin Dantzic
Irvin Dantzic, 79, of 177 Melody Lane, Forest City, N.C., died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at his residence.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside.
