James J. Hull
SMYRNA – Graveside services for James Jackson Hull, 72, of 3220 Old Seine Rd., will be held today at 1 p.m. at Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Ham officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 331, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.

Joseph J. Woodcock Sr.
Savannah, Ga., native
Joseph Jarrald Woodcock Sr., 93, of 213 Crestview Dr., died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Brookview Healthcare.
A native of Savannah, Ga., he was the widower of Doris Mason Woodcock and son of the late Percy C. and Oseola Rose Woodcock. Mr. Woodcock had lived in Gaffney since 1991. He was a long-term member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Savannah and was a current member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney.
While living in Savannah, Mr. Woodcock and his wife served as guides for the Green-Meldrim and Davenport houses. He attended Savannah High School and was 1970-1971 president of the Kiwanis Club of Savannah. He retired from the Chevron Corporation as city manager for the company in Savannah.
Surviving are a son, Joseph J. Woodcock Jr. of Gaffney; a daughter, Shelly Scott of Athens, Ga.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Greenwich Addition of Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Senior Centers of Cherokee County Inc., 499 W. Rutledge Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

Julia D. Hoke
Spartanburg County native
BLACKSBURG – Julia Dorman Hoke, 94, of 569 S. Rutherford St., died Friday, May 11, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, she was the widow of the Rev. B.L. Hoke and daughter of the late Edward and Matte Stanton Dorman. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg where she was a member of the adult choir and an adult Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are a daughter, Lorene D. Hardin of Blacksburg; two sisters, Ellen D. Linder of Cowpens and Jeanette D. Paxton of Lake Jackson, Tex.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held today at 4:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Blacksburg with the Revs. Vernon Craig, Ronnie Bishop, Latta B. Terry and Ken Reid officiating. Burial will be in Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James W. Linder Jr., Charles Dorman, Harold Waddell, Mike Waddell, Kenneth Putnam, George Putnam, Charles Putnam and Ralph Hardin.
Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Fund or the Annie Armstrong Fund, c/o first Baptist Church,1 21 W. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.
The family is at 569 S. Rutherford St., Blacksburg.

Joe R. Ruppe
Retired painter, security guard
Joe Raymond (Buck) Ruppe, 80, of 601 1/2 W. Smith St., died Friday, May 11, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Ollie V. Ruppe and son of the late S. Fitzhugh Ruppe and the late Lue Della Harris Ruppe. He was a retired house painter and security guard and was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Sylvia Moore, Helen R. Vassey, both of Gaffney, Francis Caveny of Kings Mountain and Mary Lou R. Ellard of Louisville, Ky., a son, Joe V. Ruppe of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertie R. Thomas of Cowpens; and a brother, Marshall Ruppe of Charlotte.
Mr. Ruppe was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Walmer and Freeman Ruppe, Kattie Ruppe, Ruby Thrift, Lemuel Maffey, Ruth Thrift and Lou Erie Kirby.
Services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel conducted by the Revs. Kevin Childs and Dewitt Clyde. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Larry Moore, Dale Caveny, Dennis Caveny, Joseph Ruppe, Chris Ruppe and Daniel Vassey.
Honorary pallbearers were Steve Clark, Fabian Fuentes, Robert Farr, Robert Pennington, Ricky Pennington, Michael Petty and Gaylan Pennington.
The family is at the residence.

Marjorie J. Driskill
Graveside services for Marjorie Johnson Driskill, 74, of 100 Redwood Circle, Apt. 45, will be held today at 3 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Clyde Thomas and Chaplain Max Benshoof.
White Columns-Gaffney is in charge of arrangements.
Ruthie L. Mayberry
Services for Ruthie Lee Tate Mayberry, 80, of 1701 W. Buford St., will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Dr. A.L. Brackett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers and flower bearers will be her grandsons and granddaughters, respectively.
Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
