Albert T. Shehan
U.S. Army vet; VFW member
PACOLET MILLS – Albert Theodore Shehan, 81, of 315 Montgomery Ave., died Monday, May 14, 2001, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
A native of Clifton, he was the widower of Rosie White Shehan and son of the late Rueben David and Pearl Parker Shehan. He was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Gaffney Chapter of the VFW.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Jordan of Jonesville; a son, Dean Shehan of Gaffney; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Corrie Banks and Kay Woody of Pacolet Mills and Ruby Hayes of Mayo; and a brother, Ray Shehan of Pacolet Mills.
Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Pacolet Memorial Gardens conducted by the Revs. Norman Band and Bill Pickle.
The family is at the residence.
Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Theodosia K. Littlejohn
Bowling leagues member
Theodosia Knuckles Littlejohn, 74, of 308 Hickory St., widow of Claude Leroy Littlejohn, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at 6 a.m. at her home.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Knuckles and the late Odessia Smith Knuckles. She was a housewife and member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ladies’ Sunset Bowling League and the Thursday Night Mixed Bowling League of Spartanburg.
Surviving are nine daughters – Linda Bonner of Georgetown, Tex., Nancy Hopper of Columbus, Miss., Mershell Littlejohn of the home, Rebba Littlejohn, Edna Jefferies, Sylvia Littlejohn, Marylin Wagner, Charlene Littlejohn and Thomasina Miller, all of Gaffney; four sons – Harold Knuckles, Walter Littlejohn, Clarence Littlejohn and Sammy Littlejohn, all of Gaffney; four sisters, Grace Knuckles, Ruby Tate, Zenobia Brown and Barbara Jean Kirby, all of Gaffney; two half-sisters, Ethel Davis of Spartanburg and Irene Hemphill of Baltimore, Md.; 37 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are incomplete. Foster Funeral Home is in charge.

Mahalia T. Kilgore
Cherokee county native
Mahalia Thompson Kilgore, 77, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Peachtree Centre.
Born in Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Anderson and Floree Morgan Thompson and was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John Robert Kilgore of Lowell, N.C.; two sons, Jerry Kilgore Sr. of Spartanburg and Johnny Leon Kilgore of Gaffney; four daughters, Johnnie Mae Dunn, Jataner Logan, Carolyn Jeter, all of Gaffney, and Margie Kilgore of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Abbie Thompson of Blacksburg and Ed Thompson of Gaffney; four sisters, Mahalia Kilgore, Mary Houey, both of Gaffney, and Margie Ross and Mickey Corry, both of Blacksburg; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Howard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 4 p.m.

Lance N. Thompson
New Mexico State employee
Lance Nigel Thompson, 33, of Las Cruces, N.M., died Sunday, May 13, 2001, in Las Cruces.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., he was a son of Forest Thompson of Ellenwood, Ga., and Sandra Baker Mills of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. He was a Baptist and an employee of New Mexico State University.
Also surviving are a sister, Aminah Mills of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Raheem Mills of Mt. Vernon; and paternal grandfather, Horace Thompson of Blacksburg.
Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
The family is at the home of Horace Thompson, 110 Seven Springs Rd., Blacksburg.

Ruthie Lee Mayberry
Services for Ruthie Lee Tate Mayberry, 80, of 1701 W. Buford St., widow of Nathaniel Mayberry, will be held today at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Dr. A.L. Brackett and the Revs. Lawrence Davidson and Mary D. Jefferies officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and flower bearers will be her granddaughters.
Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Morgan and James Littlejohn. Honorary flower bearers will be Wanda McCluney and Charity McCluney.
Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth A. Reynolds
Retired sales clerk
Elizabeth Abernathy Reynolds, 87, of Clewiston, Fla., died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Rockdale Memorial Hospital, Conyers, Ga.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Allen J. Reynolds and daughter of the late Gus Abernathy and the late Myra Etta Ramsey Abernathy. She was a retired department store sales clerk and a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney.
Surviving are three daughters, Gussie Pitts of Clewiston, Etta Lee of Pearland, Tex., and Babs Rice of Conyers, Ga.; a son, Arty Reynolds of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a sister, Edna Earle Thrift of Gaffney; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Joel Sellers.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of J.D. Thrift, 827 N. Limestone St., Gaffney.

Barbara Godfrey
Retired church organist
Barbara Godfrey, 72, of Brookview HealthCare Center, formerly of the Cherokee Creek community, died Monday, May 14, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Berwyn, Md., she was the daughter of the late Albert B. Godfrey and the late Lallage Greene Godfrey. She was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church and a retired church organist.
Surviving are a brother, Dr. Blanton Godfrey of Wilton, Conn., and a sister, Patricia Figgatt of Crozet, Va.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Mike Frazier.
The family is at the home of Bertha Hammett, 852 Champion Ferry Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, 502 Buck Shoals Rd., Gaffney, S.C. 29341.
