Virginia B. Robinson
Homemaker
Virginia Ballard Robinson, 80, formerly of 2433 Union Hwy., died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the Rev. Cecil Robinson and daughter of the late Walter Ballard and the late Nora Sexton Ballard. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Holcomb of Gaffney; two sons, Donald Robinson and Roger Robinson, both of Gaffney; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Dean painter. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Gay, Michael Blackwell, Josh Tatum, Travis Tatum, Donnie Robinson and Johnnie Jolly.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home and other times will be at the home of Debra Barton, 657 Starr Ridge Rd., Gaffney.

Grace W. Bennett
Retired after 56-year teaching career
Grace Waits Bennett, 93, of Peachtree Centre died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Monticello, Ga., she was the widow of William Marvin Bennett and daughter of the late Charles Augustus Waits and the late Mollie Dell Funderbuck Waits.
Mrs. Bennett retired after a 56-year teaching career. She taught in the Marlboro County and Orangeburg County school districts, and taught and helped establish Heritage Hall Academy in Norway, S.C.
A graduate of Georgia State Teachers College in Athens, she was a former member of the S.C. Teachers Association and was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church in York.
Surviving are a son, Charles Marvin “Chuck” Bennett of York; a daughter, Linda Nell McRae of Charlotte; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friends, Walter and Ann LeCroy.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg, conducted by the Rev. Paul Ballard.
The family is at their respective homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Philadelphia U.M.C. Building Fund, 2260 Chester Hwy., York, S.C. 29745.

Frances S. Graham
1950 graduate of Granard High School
Frances Delano Sarratt Graham, 57, of 11 Westwind Apartments, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Widow of Bishop Graham, she was born in Gaffney, a daughter of the late Spurgeon Sarratt and the late Selena Lipscomb Sarratt Haney. She was a 1950 graduate of Granard High School and a retired chef.
Mrs. Graham was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Vinnie Byers Missionary Circle.
Surviving are two brothers, Joe Dean Sarratt of Gaffney and George W. Sarratt of Georgia; six sisters, Jimmie Bouton of Albany, N.Y., Jeannette Keitt of Stamford, Conn., Stina Smith, Elaine Brown, Harriett Moore, all of Bridgeport, Conn., and Bettis Void of Stamford.
Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church conducted by Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. Burial will be in Gaffney Memorial Park.
Flower bearers will be Granard High School Class of 1950 and pallbearers will be classmates and nephews.
Body will be placed in the church Thursday at 2 p.m.
The family is at the home of Wilbert Rodgers, 150 Camellia Circle.

Ola Mae Posey
Cherokee County native
Ola Mae Posey, 74, wife of James E. Posey, of 367 Nancy Creek Rd., died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at 5:18 a.m. in White Oak Manor, Spartanburg.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Ode Bonner and the late Novella Taylor Davis. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Elaine Knuckles of Gaffney, Shirley Gallop of New York City and Gayla Jenkins of Marietta, Ga.; three sons, Ronnie Posey of Gaffney, Cris Posey of Reynoldburg, Ohio, and Terry Posey of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Edith Dawkins of Washington, D.C., and Linnie Rhinehart of Grover, N.C.; three brothers, Horace Bonner of Pittsburgh, Pa., James Davis of Charlotte and Clarence Davis of Grover; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with Dr. U.D. Vernon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church.

Shedrick L. Dawkins
Gaffney native
Shedrick Lamar Dawkins, 20, of 102 Hampton Ave., died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at 1:10 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of Jerleen Louise Dawkins. He attended Mount Tabor Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sisters, Melanie Dawkins and Deggie D. Smith, of Gaffney and maternal grandmother, Ella Goudelock Dawkins of Gaffney.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Darrell Smith, James W. Richards, Antoinette Gardner, Lillie S. Tate, Marvin Tate and L.C. Roberts and Minister Jennifer Hemphill. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Baptist Church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers and flower bearers will be his cousins. Honorary flower bearers and pallbearers will be members of the New Horizon and the social service organization.
The family is at the home of his sister, Deggie Smith, 403 McCluney Dr.

Inez O. Tyler
Homemaker
Inez Opal Tyler, 77, of 210 Filter Plant Rd., died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, Peachtree Centre.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Buford Lee Tyler and daughter of the late George Washington Cooper and the late Hattie Williams Cooper. She was a homemaker and member of central Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Joe Tyler, Steve Tyler, Dennis Tyler and Terry Tyler, all of Gaffney; four daughters, Brenda Jolley, Myra Driscoll, Kaye Kirby, all of Gaffney, and Tammy Sheely of Anderson; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel conducted by the Rev. Randy Phillips. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
