Mary B. Latham
York County native
SHARON – Mary Bratton Latham, 78, of 2845 Hwy. 97, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill.
A native of York County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Agger Bratton and the late Mary Frances Ramsey Bratton. She was the widow of W.A. “Dub” Latham and was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Hickory Grove High School
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Latham was preceded in death by a son, Bill Latham, and a brother, Clyde Bratton.
Surviving are a son, Jim Latham of Columbia; five daughters, Ann Latham of Sharon, Linda Rhodes, Ruth Wilkerson, both of Hickory Grove, Frances Faulkner of Smyrna and Helen Boyd of York; a sister, Helen Good of Sharon; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Sharon conducted by the Revs. Linda Dunn and Charles Phillips. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Sherry F. Moore
Native of Warners, N.Y.
GROVER, N.C. – Sherry Fern Moore, 38, of 2864 Bettis Rd., formerly of Warners, N.Y., died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002.
She was the wife of John Bryan Moore of the home and daughter of Robert and Esther Ruger Briggs of Warners, N.Y. A homemaker, she attended Cleveland Community College and Buffalo Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are two sons, Kenneth Matthew Butler and Joshua Randall Butler, both of the home; four brothers, Tim Briggs of Preble, N.Y., John Briggs of Camillus, N.Y., Bob Briggs of Elbridge, N.Y., and Dale Briggs of Warners, N.Y.; two sisters, Becky Hudon of Tulley, N.Y., and Cindy Briggs of Greenville; and maternal grandmother, Fannie Fern Ruger of Norwood, N.Y.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Marshall Foster.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30-8 at White Columns-Blacksburg and other times will be at the home of Polly Moore, 102 Glenwood Dr., Blacksburg.

Isaac N. Powell Jr.
Retired chef
Deacon Isaac Newton Powell Jr., 74, of 1034 N. Logan St., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at 10:45 p.m. at his home.
A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Marion Byers Powell and son of the late Isaac Powell Sr. and the late Hattie Osborn Powell. He was a 1947 graduate of Granard High School where he was a star football player. He was a member of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church and served as a deacon, assistant B.T.U. director and member of the All Male Chorus. He was a former Scout Master of Troop 103 of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church and was the church’s chef cook. He was a member of Limestone Mutual Benefit Society No. 3.
Mr. Powell was employed by Hotel Carroll for 35 years and retired as the chef cook of Spartanburg Country Club after 23 years of service.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Isaac Powell III of Columbia; two daughters, Jacquelyn P. Graham of Gaffney and Beverly C. Powell of the home; a sister, Marie P. Henderson of Salisbury, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Limestone Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Arthur J. Smith, Roderick Oglesby, Johnny Henderson and Clarence Davis officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 2:30-3 p.m.
Honorary flower bearers will be Lois Dukes, Juanita Jefferies and members of the Ladies Progressive Club. Active flower bearers will be the deaconesses of Limestone Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. F.J. Means, William “Bill” Cleveland and the members of the Class of 1947 of Granard High School. Active pallbearers will be the deacons of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church.

Ann Laura Jones
Retired from National Textiles
Ann Laura Singleton Jones, 60, of 621 Garvin Lake Rd., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Laurel Bay Health Care, Greenville.
Born in Savannah, Ga., she was the wife of Robert Glenn Jones and daughter of the late Haley Singleton and the late Lois Whelchel Singleton. She was a retired knitter from National Textiles and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, David Goins of Pamplico and Donnie Goins of Gaffney; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Crescent Hill Memorial Park in Columbia.
The family is at their respective homes.
