Ann Laura Jones
Retired from National Textiles
Ann Laura Singleton Jones, 60, of 621 Garvin Lake Rd., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Laurel Baye Health Care, Greenville.
Born in Savannah, Ga., she was the wife of Robert Glenn Jones and daughter of the late Haley Singleton and the late Lois Whelchel Singleton. She was retired from National Textiles and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, David Goins of Pamplico and Donnie Goins of Gaffney; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Alan Peeler. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Memorial Park in Columbia.
Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 500 E. Montgomery St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or the American Cancer Society, Cherokee County Unit, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, S.C. 29615.
The family is at the residence.

Lucy S. Martin
Cherokee County native
SPARTANBURG – Lucy Scruggs Martin, 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Valley Falls Terrace Nursing Home.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Thomas Martin and a daughter of the late Banks and Suphronie McCraw Martin. She was a retired textile worker and was a member of New Pleasant Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Peggy Buchanan of Port Richey, Fla., Marsha Mae of Joplin, Miss., Patsy Reynolds of Gaffney and Freda Dill of Anderson; a son, Billy Martin of Gaffney; two sisters, Clara Parris of Gaffney and Lettie Scruggs of Mooresboro, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at New Pleasant Baptist Church with the Revs. George Holland and Dewitt Clyde officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Valley Falls Terrace Nursing Home, 400 Locust Grove Rd., Spartanburg, S.C. 29303.
The family is at the home of her son, Billy Martin, 443 Park Gate Road, Gaffney.

William Sizemore Jr.
Retired from Duke Power
BLACKSBURG – William “Bill” Sizemore Jr., 71, of 1035 W. Pine St., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Geraldine Brown Sizemore and son of the late William Sizemore Sr. and Onteen Henderson Sizemore. A member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg, he was retired from Duke Power with 42 years of service.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Kenneth Ray Sizemore of Spartanburg; two daughters, Myra S. Slack and Alicia Lynn Sizemore, both of Blacksburg; three brothers, Aaron “Red” Sizemore, Ted Sizemore, Terry Sizemore, all of Spartanburg; two sisters, Carolyn S. Brown and Ann S. Thompson, both of Spartanburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sizemore was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Sizemore.
Cryptside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Clingman Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ken Reid officiating.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Martin, Robbie Northey, Ronnie Batchler, David Hogue, Wayne Cobb and Tom Easler.

Linda M. Young
Sister of Gaffney resident
SWANSEA– Linda M. King Young, 53, of 317 Cedar Creek Rd., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002.
Mrs. Young was born in Lexington County, a daughter of the late Luther Thomas and Carrie Belle Jeffcoat King. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Young, Beverly Young Gartman, both of Swansea, and Sandra Young of Gaffney; a son, Charles Young of Swansea; two sisters, Elaine Elders of Orangeburg and Thelma Jeffcoat of Burke, Va.; two brothers, Lenair King of Swansea and Harold King of Pelion; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Salem Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Baker, Dan Stroman and Randy Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home, North, S.C.
