Robert R. Bailey
Founder of Bailey & Sons Motor Company
COWPENS – Robert Ransom Bailey, 75, of 5550 Cannons Campground Rd., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at his home.
Born in Saluda, N.C., he was the husband of Sara Lowrance Bailey and son of the late Preston Howard Bailey and the late Viola Hambright Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was founder of Bailey & Sons Motor Company and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church where he was an active deacon. He was a Gideon and World War II Navy veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Ran Bailey of Cowpens and Colin Bailey of Duncan; a daughter, Treva Bailey Wagoner of Cowpens; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Frank Northcutt and Stuart Kersey and Dr. Clyde Thomas. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Cemetery, Cowpens. Body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bud Lovinggood, Jodean Lemmons, Kasler Hughes, Bubba Dorman, George Price, Sidney Robbins, Sammy Powell and Joel Vaughan.
Honorary pallbearers will be those who have gone on foreign missions trips, the Jack Millwood Sunday School Class and the deacons of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-7:30 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, 805 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund, P.O. Box 1712, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
The family is at the residence, 5550 Cannons Campground Rd., Cowpens.

Alma R. Foxx
Homemaker
Alma Elizabeth Ruppe Foxx, 90, of 445 Lockhart Lane, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, N.C., she was the widow of Charles Avant Foxx and daughter of the late Joshua Gilbert Ruppe and the late Edda Mooney Ruppe. She was a housewife and member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Irene Brown of Gaffney; three sons, Max Foxx, Dalton Foxx and Larry Foxx, all of Gaffney; four brothers, Roy Ruppe, Gilmer Ruppe, Detroy Ruppe and Albert Ruppe, all of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Foxx was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Kendrick.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Jerry Ruppe, Ronnie Cox and Todd Braswell. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Eddie Foxx, Clint Upchurch, Mike Parker, Joey Smith, Jackie Crocker, Terry Foxx, Ronnie Upchurch Sr. and Mike Parker Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class of New Hope Baptist Church.
The family is at the home of her son, Max Foxx, 456 Lockhart Lane.

Kathern R. Jolliff
West Virginia native
Kathern Ross Jolliff, 70, formerly of 607 Old Pros Dr., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson.
A native of West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Ross and the late Ida Pyles Ross. She was a homemaker, member of Buford Street United Methodist Church and a past member of the Gladiolus Society of Gaffney.
Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia Remley, Sherri Jolliff, both of Gaffney, and Pamela Sarratt of Anderson; a son, Kurt Jolliff of Gaffney; and five grandchildren, Justin Jolliff, Megan Jolliff, Ross Jolliff, Jennifer Sarratt and John Sarratt II.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Scott Wachter. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Justin Jolliff, John Sarratt II, Jerry Jolliff, Steve Riggins, David Cook and Jimmy Cook.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at the home of Kurt Jolliff, 425 Cherokee National Hwy., Gaffney.

I.D. Elmore
Retired insurance salesman
SUMTER – I.D. Elmore Jr., 81, husband of Clara Lewis Elmore, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at his home.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late I.D. Elmore Sr. and the late Juanita Phillips Elmore. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a retired salesman with Philadelphia Life Insurance Company. He was a U.S. Marine Corps World War II veteran and served at the Guadalcanal Canal, Iwo Jima and other South Pacific areas.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Jean Kohl, of Sumter, three nieces and six nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Elmore was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Earl Elmore and Bobby Elmore.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. James Phillips officiating. Burial was in the Sumter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Theron Cook, Leland Brown, Bobby Benson, Scott Gilbert, Harby Moses, Everett Faulling and Julian Singleton.
The family is at the home, 802 Haynsworth St.
