Brenda W. Painter
Cook at Mike’s Corner
Brenda Kay Williams Painter, 34, of 1736 Blacksburg Hwy., Unit No. 2, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at her home.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Randy Painter Sr. and daughter of the late Robert Oliver Williams and the late Mildred Louise McCombs Williams. She was a cook for Mike’s Corner and a member of Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church.
Also surviving are a son, Randy Dale Painter Jr. of the home; two daughters, Crystal Dianne Painter and Chasity Nicole Painter, both of the home; two brothers, Robert Edward Williams Sr. and Bobby Joe Williams, both of Camden; and four sisters, Esther Hill of Liberty, Betty JoAnn Putman, Linda Faye Huitt and Mary Jane Rose, all of Gaffney.
Services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Terrell Dillingham and Gregg Martin. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Painter, Tim Wilkie, David Huitt, Ray Penson, Ian Moseley and Mike Putnam.
The family is at 919 9th St., Gaffney.

Margaret H. Jones
Retired textile employee
Margaret Holt Jones, 79, of Brookview Healthcare Center, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Restorative Care.
Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Holt and the late Onie Framer Easler. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Humphries of Gaffney; two sons, Andy Jones and Bobby Jones, both of Gaffney; three sisters, Irene Green, Mary Forte, both of Blacksburg, and Geraldine Thornburg of Lincolnton, N.C.; a brother, Roland Easler of Nevada; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Jamie Martin and Jeff Davis. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Roger Jones, Robbie Jones, Brian Jones, Billy Humphries, Gene Humphries and Jimmy Lester.
The family will receive friends today from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Brenda Humphries, 2172 Boiling Springs Hwy.

Bobby Lee Farr
Retired truck driver
Bobby Lee Farr, 70, of 115 Piney Knob Rd., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Farr was the husband of Mary Holmes Farr and son of the late Norma Farr Alman. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and a retired truck driver.
Also surviving are two sons, Robbie Farr of Lockhart and Douglas Farr of Chester; two stepsons, Roland Hefner and Howard Hefner, both of Gaffney; a daughter, Vickie Farr of Chester; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two half-brothers, Marvin Alman and John Earl Alman, both of Union; and a half-sister, Laura Moss of Union.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Jamie Ellis and Douglas Lawing. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Gordon Mortuary and at other times will be at the home of Ella Mae Gregory, 526 Cherokee Falls Rd., Blacksburg.

Clarence J. Jackson
Retired from Southland Life
Clarence J. Jackson, 89, of 701 Anthony St., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Polk County, N.C., he was the widower of Ruth Dill Jackson and son of the late John Jackson and the late Fannie Jackson. He was retired from Southland Life Insurance Company and was a member of Kirby Memorial Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are three daughters, Jean Jackson Bishop, Malagni Moss Mardis, both of Gaffney, and Delores Jackson Moss of High Point, N.C.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jackson was also preceded in death by two daughters, Clara Jackson Harmon and Patsy Jackson.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Kirby Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Richard Lancaster and John Goforth. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ward, Darryl Harmon, Bryan Harmon, Larry Bishop, Bobby Jackson, Ronald Moss and James Higgins.
Chuck McAbee will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8 p.. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Kirby Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 512 Chandler Dr., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

Bobby Dean Byars
Retired from Overnite
Bobby Dean Byars, 63, of 405 Hardin Dr., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Blacksburg, he was the widower of Joyce Easler Byars and son of the late Clarence Byars and the late Ila Childers Byars. He was retired from Overnite Transportation and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are four daughters, Betty Crawford, Lisa Byars, Penny Byars and Tammy Byars, all of Gaffney; a son, Bobby Joe Byars of Gaffney; three sisters, Elizabeth Bright of Gaffney, Beatrice Earls of Blacksburg and Modra Goforth of Charlotte; and 11 grandchildren.
Arrangements are incomplete. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.

Margaret S. Mabrey
Retired bookkeeper
Margaret Steward Mabrey, 74, of 128 Grace St., died today, March 15, 2002, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Harry J. Mabrey and daughter of the late Arthur Steward and the late Lucille Steward. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Lynn Mabrey, of Gaffney.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-7 at the home of Lynn and Vicky Mabrey, 114 Hillside Dr.
