Josefa C. Villa
GUAYAMA, P.R. – Josefa Correa Villa, 96, widow of Francisco Villa, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at Santa Rosa Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 16, at Funeral Home Per La Flota Blanca. Burial will be in Guayama Memorial Gardens.

Willard P. Phillips
Retired millwright
SPARTANBURG – Willard Pinkney Phillips, 76, of 1234 White Plains Rd., died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at his home.
A native of Gaffney, he was the widower of Madgie Mullinax Phillips and son of the late Claude Jefferson Phillips and the late Mattie Fowler Phillips. He was a retired millwright and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Wayne Phillips of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Blackwell of Cowpens and Julia Lovelace of Gaffney; a sister, Valerie Jolly of Cowpens; a brother, Wilburn Phillips of Cowpens; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Robert Kirby and Dean Painter.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Dye, Bobby DeYoung, Chuck Laughter, John Stratton, Timmy Upton and Scott Upton
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Geraldine M. White
Former elementary school cafeteria employee
BLACKSBURG – Geraldine Moss White, 80, of 1060 S. Charleston St., died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at her home.
She was the wife of Boyce (Buck) White of the home and daughter of the late Forest F. White and the late Bessie Childers White. She was a former elementary school cafeteria employee in Blacksburg and was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, David White of Blacksburg; a brother, William Rion Moss of Blacksburg; two sisters, Mildred Daw of Pensacola, Fla., and Betty Martin of Wellford; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements are incomplete. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.

Dolly V. Bradley
Chesnee native
Dolly Vassey Bradley, 80, of 503 5th St., died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Peachtree Centre.
A native of Chesnee, she was the widow of Joe Bradley Sr. and daughter of the late Virgil Crayton Vassey and the late Minnie Davis Vassey. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Elm Street Church of God.
Surviving are a son, Joe Bradley Jr. of Gaffney; a daughter, Norma Jean Gallman of Cowpens; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nettie Bright of Gaffney and Ola Davidson of Campobello.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Lunsford; a sister, Nellie Vassey; and brothers, Ed Vassey, Albert Vassey and Jessie Vassey.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Revs. James Garner and Claude White. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Joe Bradley, 303 Mimosa Dr.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of S.C., 407 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

Ronnie Couch
Truck driver
ROCK HILL – Jerry “Ronnie” Ronald Couch, 66, of 613 Cauthen St., died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Couch was a native of Piedmont and a son of Sophie Nell Bolden Couch and the late Jerry Clifton Cough. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Couch was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict and was a member of the American Legion Frank Roach Post. He was a truck driver with Floral Express in Rock Hill.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Couch is survived by his wife, Geneva “Jenny” Couch of the home; a daughter, Denise Watkins of Pelzer; a step-son, Ed Adams of Charlotte; three brothers, Joe Mack Couch of Rock Hill, Jerry C. Couch Jr. of Rock Hill and Tony Couch of Gaffney; six sisters, Jan Stevenson of Carlisle, Peggy Helms, Ina Marshburn, both of Rock Hill, Susan Childers, Rhonda Dill, both of York, and Jean Murray of White Plans, Tenn.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grandview Memorial Park-Cherry Road, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Brown.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White St., Rock Hill, and other times will be at the home, 613 Cauthen St., Rock Hill.

James A. Byars
Services for James Arnold Byars, 47, of L-51 Granard Courts, will be held today at 3 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewey Whittenburg and Dr. U.D. Vernon officiating. Burial will be in the old Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.

Odell Mickles Sr.
Services for Deacon Odell Mickles Sr., 76, of 621 Broad St., will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Mikes Creek Baptist Church with the pastor, Dr. S.M. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.
