Ocie B. Guest
Retired from Cone Mills
CLIFFSIDE, N.C. – Ocie Beheler Guest, 71, of Ferry Road, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.
She was a native of Cleveland County, N.C., and a daughter of the late John W. and Selma Earls Beheler. She was retired from Cone Mills, Cliffside Plant, and was a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane Guest Downey of Cliffside; three granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cleveland Memorial Park, conducted by the Revs. Ernie Cole and John Goforth.
Visitation will be from 7-9 tonight at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside.
Memorials may be made to Hospice at Wendover, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, N.C., 28150; or Prospect Baptist Church, 2610 Prospect Church Rd., Mooresboro, N.C. 28114.

Harold T. Lamb
BPW meter reader
Harold Thomas “Elmo” Lamb, 63, of 108 Gettys Dr. died Friday, July 26, 2002, in Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
A native of Chesnee, he was a son of the late O.B and Nellie Horton Lamb and widow of Peggy Jean Mabry Lamb. He was a meter reader for the Board of Public Works, a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and a veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Lamb Jackson of the home; a brother, Glen Lamb of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a sister, Hilda Cantrell of Chesnee.
Graveside services will held Sunday at 4 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Harold King and Alan Peeler.
The family is at the home.

James A. Hattaway
Founding member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
GREENVILLE – Lt. James Allen “Jim” Hattaway, 73, husband of Barbara Coleman Hattaway, of 25 Buckingham Rd., died Sunday, July 28, 2002.
Born in Mitchell, Ga., he was a son of the late Albert Baton and Florence Mason Hattaway.
Mr. Hattaway was a 1954 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in electrical engineering, and a retired facilities engineer with Lucas C.A.V. He was a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Gaffney, where he was a founding member. He retired from the U.S. Navy.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Holly Watt of Concord, N.C., and Lisa Logan of Hudson, Fla.; a son, Jamey Hattaway of Greenville; a sister, Florence Renfroe of Greenville; two brothers, Michael Hattaway of Easley and Al Hattaway of Simpsonville; and five grandchildren, Kelly and Amy Dixon, Melissa Dennis, Robert Logan and Joshua Brown.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Greenville Hospital System, 255 Enterprise Blvd., Suite 120, Greenville, S.C. 29615; or the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, S.C. 29615.

Rosa A. Walls
Jonesville native
COWPENS – Rosa Lee Alexander Walls, 83, of 102 Palmetto St., died Monday, July 29, 2002, at her home.
A native of Jones-ville, she was the daughter of the late William “Will” and Beatrice Tisdale Alexander and widow of Jonah Walls. She was a member of Love Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Wright and Jo Anne Greene, both of Cowpens, Martha J. Clary of Gaffney and Lib Hall of Spartanburg; a son, Dewey K. Walls of Gaffney; a brother, Randolph Alexander of Kings Mountain, N.C.; four sisters, Margaret Arrowood of Cowpens, Louise Horne of Inman, Annie Love of Blacksburg and Carolyn Alexander of Greer; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 tonight at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Love Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. James Price, Billy Millwood and Tim Knotts. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church Thursday at 3 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, S.C. 29301.
The family is at the home.

Jarvis L. Jefferies
Services for Jarvis Llwellyn Jefferies, 23, of Newport News, Va., husband of Krissindra Lee Jefferies, will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Dunton United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. J.W. Evans. Burial will be in Gaffney Memorial Park. Body will be placed in the church Thursday at 2 p.m.
The body may be viewed today at The Gilmore Mortuary from 5-7 p.m.
The family is at the home of his parents, Paul and Vanessa Jefferies, 115 Claremont Ave.
