Clarence Parker
Retired from Humphries Lumber Company
Clarence Parker, 85, of 1081 Ford Rd., died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Brookview HealthCare Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Kathleen Mullinax Parker and son of the late Robert Parker and the late Ida Brown Parker. He was retired from Humphries Lumber Company and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Rodney Cragg.
The family is at the residence.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Fay T. Clary
Retired salesperson for Hamrick’s Inc.
Fay Turner Clary, 74, formerly of 200 State Line Rd., died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in PeachtreeCentre.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Wallace L. Clary and daughter of Nettie Cooper Turner Morgan and the late Fay Clarence Turner. Her stepfather was the late Gresham N. Morgan. Mrs. Turner was a retired salesperson for Hamrick’s Inc. and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a former member of West End Baptist Church for 54 years.
Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Wallace Fay and Linda P. Clary of Gaffney; two granddaughters, Kimberly C. Elder, and her husband, Billy W. Elder, and Stephanie C. Medley and her husband, Brian C. Medley; a great-grandson, Hunter Brian Medley; three sisters, Louise M. Crawley of Spartanburg, Floy M. Lawson of Cowpens and Doris M. Bailey of Kingstree.
Mrs. Turner was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Dean Turner.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel with burial in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home of her son, Wallace Fay Clary, 204 State Line Rd.
Memorials may be made to the Rev. Junior Parker Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Central Baptist Church, 500 E. Montgomery St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or to Hospice Care of S.C., 407 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

John R. Berry
Brother of Gaffney residents
GREENSBORO, N.C. – John Roland Berry, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Berry was the son of the late Midus and Mollie Parris Berry of Cowpens. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired truck driver from Central Motor Lines and the Printing Center in Greensboro.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Nannie Faye Cook Berry of the home; a son, Mike Berry of the home; four sisters, Juanita Cook of Cowpens, Ellen White and Thelma Reynolds of Gaffney and Patsy Whelchel of Newton, N.C.; and a brother, H.T. Berry of Cowpens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27405.

LeRoy Sanders
U.S. Air Force veteran
SPARTANBURG – LeRoy Sanders, 78, of 159 Hidden Hill Rd., died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at his residence.
A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Jerald Dean Lovelace Sanders and son of the late Felix Irvin Sanders and the late Mae Hughey Sanders. He was a retired deputy director of the s.C. Employment Security Commission in Spartanburg and was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of First Baptist church of Gaffney.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Lee Sanders Harmon of Gaffney and Monica Lovelace Sanders of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Maggie Daniels of Gaffney; one grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
The family is at the residence.
