R. Scott Jolley
U..S. Air Force veteran
CHESNEE – Ralph Scott Jolley, 78, of 717 Pickens St., died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Frances Robbins Jolley and son of the late Burton B. and Marie Gibbs Jolley. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was retired from Duke Power Co. He was a lifelong member of Chesnee First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Hord of Chesnee; a son, David Scott Jolley of Lincolnton, N.C.; a sister, Louise J. Ezell of Chesnee; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Chesnee First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Herbert Garrett, Dr. Troy Gregg and the Rev. Ron Tosto. Burial was in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Chesnee First Baptist Church Building Fund, 211 S. Kentucky Ave., Chesnee, S.C. 29323.
The family is at the home.

Raymond A. Allen
Mechanic with Chris Imports
GROVER, N.C. – Raymond Austin Allen, 55, of 319 Mallard Dr., died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, N.C., he was the son of the late William A. and Eva Mae Bowen Allen. He was formerly married to Frances Rice Allen. He attended Love Valley Baptist Church and was associated with Chris Imports as a mechanic. He was a member of the Ridge Runner Hunting Club and the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Ray Allen of Grover and Mark Dwayne Allen of Blacksburg; four daughters, Beverly Cheryl Bowens and Tracie Roxanne Hamrick, both of Grover, Wendy Renee Pearson of Blacksburg and Amy Dawn Morris of Holden Beach, N.c.; two brothers, Richard Lee “R.L.” Allen of Kings Mountain, N.C., and James Vasseur Allen of Shelby; four sisters, Evelyn Bell and Linda Dailey, both of Grover, Frances Ledford of Rock Hill and Pauline Goforth of Loris; and 15 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by a brother, Robert David Allen.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Clearview Baptist Church, Grover, with the Revs. Barry Miles and Barry Philbeck officiating. Burial will be in Grover City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Pearson home, 310 Pearson Dr., Blacksburg.

Viola Williams
Retired from Musgrove Mills
Minnie “Viola” Harvey Williams, 82, of 523 W. Montgomery St., died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Rutherfordton, N.C., she was the widow of Julian Ebb Williams and daughter of the late Miley and Una Luckadoo Harvey. She was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church and was retired from Musgrove Mills.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Brown of Gaffney; a sister, Iona Bridges of Gaffney; and three grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Harvey, Charlie Harvey and Keesler Harvey.
Graveside services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Frank Northcutt and Clyde Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-3:45 p.m. prior to the service and at other times they will be at the Bridges home, 523 W. Montgomery St., Apt. 18, Gaffney.

Betty B. Dickson
Retired secretary from Stein Services
BLACKSBURG – Betty Jo Borders Dickson, 64, of 310 Antioch Rd., died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at her residence.
A native of Kings Mountain, N.C., she was the wife of David L. Dickson and daughter of Dorcas Bell Proctor Borders and the late Charlie Andrell Borders. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a retired secretary from Stein Services.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mothers are a daughter, Tanny Humphries Hambright of Blacksburg; three brothers, J.C. Borders, Charles Borders and Jerry Borders, all of Blacksburg; three sisters, Sue Hames and Mary Morgan of Blacksburg and Doris Whisnant of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Dickson was precede din death by a son, James Britt Humphries.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Vernon Craig.
Pallbearers will be Brooks, Bryon, Shannon and Clay Duncan and Bruce Pierce.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Gordon Mortuary and at other times they will be at the residence.

Alice M. Parker
Native of Atlanta, Ga.
Alice M. Parker, 90, formerly of Holly Street, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Peachtree Centre.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., she was the widow of Hoyle C. Parker and daughter of the late Robert and Ida Miller. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Bobby Glenn Parker of Gaffney; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Betty) Burrell of Anderson; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Justice.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Delos Blanton.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 at White Columns- Gaffney and at other times they will be at the home of her son, 115 Calton Dr.

Bessie P. Wofford
Retired textile employee
Bessie Elizabeth Peeler Wofford, 88, of 482 Wofford Rd., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Billy Wofford and daughter of the late Johnny Anthony Peeler and the late Fanny Amanda Bratton Peeler. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Abingdon Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Alice Ledford of Union, Clara Howard, Lillian Stroupe, both of Gaffney; a sister, Grace Peeler of Gaffney; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Abingdon Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Billy Jones. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Daniel Ezell, Billy Ledford, Mark Ledford, Randy Ledford, Walter Knox and Leonard Peeler.
The family is at the residence.

K. Bonds Jr.
Former electrician
John K. Bonds Jr., 52, of 305 Draytonville Rd., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at his residence.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of the late John Keefer Bonds Sr. and the late Mildred Lorene Dover Bonds. He was a former electrician and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a son, Chris Bonds of Spartanburg; a brother, Dwight Dover of Gaffney; and two sisters, Candace Price and Sheila Hughes, both of Gaffney.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by Mr. Ashby Blakely.
The family is at the residence, 305 Draytonville Rd., where they will receive friends at any time.

William E. Davis
PACOLET – William Edward Davis, 47, of 171 Hardy St., died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A native of Union County, he was the husband of Joyce Reid Davis and son of Sally Thompson Davis of Spartanburg and the late Joseph Davis. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, an Army veteran and employed by Waste Management, Wellford.
Also surviving are a son, William Jimmel Davis of the home; two brothers, Robert Davis of Spartanburg and James Davis of Montgomery, Ala.; and three sisters, Josephine Davis, Irene Miller and Tammie Davis of Spartanburg.
Services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Nathaniel Wilder. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.
The family is at the home of Irene Miller, 215 Broadcast Dr., Spartanburg. The Gilmore Mortuary, Gaffney, is in charge of arrangements.
