Helen L. Thacker
SMYRNA – Helen Louise Thacker, 73, of 1358 McGill Hwy., died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at her residence after an extended illness. She was the wife of Louis E. Thacker of the home.
Arrangements are incomplete. White Columns Funeral Service, Blacksburg, is in charge.

Straucy M. Foster
Retired housekeeper
Straucy Mae Foster, 68, of 106 Ellis Ferry Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at 2 p.m. at 221 Connecticut Ave.
Daughter of the late Joe C. Foster and the late Louise Guyton Foster, she was a native of Cherokee County. She was reared by the late Boyce Wilkins and the late Daisy Wilkins. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and served as a member of the Ebenezer Senior Choir, the Senior Missionary and the Kitchen Committee. She was retired after working for 29 years as housekeeper for Mrs. Oliver Hamrick.
Surviving are a son, John Michael Wilkins of Gaffney; four daughters, Sarah L. Kirby, Mildred L. Byers, Deegee L. Foster of Gaffney and Carolyn A. Fernanders of the home; a foster daughter, Ray Lou Galmer of Gaffney; a brother, Johnny L. Foster of Gaffney; a sister, Annie Sue Tate of Gaffney; 36 grandchildren, one of them, Sandra Scench of Gaffney, she reared as a daughter; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Deegee Foster, 213 Oakview Dr.

Paul W. Brown
Retired truck driver
Paul Wilkes “Bill” Brown, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, in Brookview HealthCare Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Walter Broadus and Lois Smith Brown. He was a retired truck driver, a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Goucher Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Osment of Elkin, N.C., and Lynne Judy of Spartanburg; two sisters, Minnie Cook of Gaffney and Margaret Tuggle of Chester; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
The family is at their respective homes.

Joseph “Jody” Daniel
Resident of Midland, Texas
Joseph “Jody” Ernest Daniel, 43, of 5612 Heartland Court, Midland, Tex., died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in Midland.
A native of Chester, Pa., he was the son of Dr. David and Ivor Gayle Daniel of Midland, Tex., and was self-employed in home repair. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Wilkesboro, N.C.
Surviving are three daughters, Cristina Gayle Daniel, Tabitha Irene Daniel and Victoria Nicole Daniel, all of Surf City, N.C.; and one granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. George Fizer.
Pallbearers will be Don Hall, Jim Humphries, John Popson, Steve Popson, Ray Sizemore and Frederick Townes.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home of Irene Blanton, 809 S. Limestone St., Gaffney.

Bill Keller
Retired carpenter
Willie Carroll (Bill) Keller, 74, formerly of Limestone Courts, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Newport, Tenn., he was the son of the late James Arthur Keller and the late Otha Reece Keller. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired carpenter.
Surviving are a daughter, Tayana Moss of Gaffney; six sons, Ricky Skipper of Forest City, N.C., Billy Keller, Tony Keller, Jimmy Keller, all of Gaffney, Robbie Gene Keller and Kenneth Carl Keller, both of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Clayton Keller of Gaffney; four grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Tim Osment.
Pallbearers will be Clay Keller, Sonny Delashment, Ricky Moss, Jeremy Allen, James Keller and Joe Keller.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Tayna Moss, 933 9th St.
