Louise D. Rollins
RUTHERFORDTON, N.C. – Services for Louise Donaldson Rollins, 80, were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at McMahan's Funeral Chapel, Rutherfordton. Burial was in West Point Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Rollins died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Rutherford Hospital.

Donnie Rhodes Jr.
Employed by Upstate Collision
SPARTANBURG – Hugh Donald Rhodes Jr., 36, of 808 Zimmerman Lake Rd., died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born on Jan. 19, 1967, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of Betty Gowan Rhodes of the home and the late Hugh D. Rhodes Sr. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Pauline and was employed by Upstate Collision.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, Michael Rhodes of Spartanburg and Steven Rhodes of Gaffney; and a daughter, Shannon Rhodes of Gaffney.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Roland Dry. The family will receive friends at the ceremony from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hugh D. Rhodes Jr. Fund, P.O. Box 1044, Duncan, S.c. 29334.
The family is at the home.

Frances J. Blanton
Retired from Cherokee Co. probate judge’s office
BLACKSBURG – Frances Jones Blanton, 79, of 510 Turner Rd., died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at her residence.
A native of Blacksburg, she was the wife of Lyman Blanton and daughter of the late Ultra Matthule Jones and the late Alice Elizabeth Blanton Jones. She was a member of New Heights Baptist Church and was retired from the Cherokee County probate judge's office after 17 years of service as a secretary.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Terry Blanton and his wife, Peggy, of Blacksburg and Bruce Blanton of Fayetteville, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Jayci Blanton of Gaffney, Sgt. Kris Barnette of Blacksburg and Angel Blanton Cash of Gaffney.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blanton was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Wallace.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Heights Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Sidney Norton. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Gordon Mortuary and at other times they will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 407 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

Ronald "Lucky" Wall

CHESNEE – Ronald Heyward "Lucky" Wall, 54, of 391 Fall Rd., died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Marsha Harmon Wall and a son of the late Heyward and Marjorie Gilbert Wall. He was a self-employed carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Melanie Wall Helton of Chesnee; two sons, Chris Wall and Eric Wall, both of Chesnee; a brother, Mike Wall of Chesnee; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Eggers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Preston Edmonds and Billy Hollifield officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Chesnee First Baptist Church or Graham Chapel Wesleyan Church.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Melanie Helton, 385 Fall Rd., Chesnee.

Modelia W. Littlejohn

Modelia Whittenburg Littlejohn, 84, of 56 Beltline Apartments, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Widow of Eugene Littlejohn, Mrs. Littlejohn was born in Cherokee County, a daughter of the late Arthur Alexander Whittenburg and the late Mary Jane Bonner Whittenburg. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and Seniors Club.
Surviving are three sisters, Alice Caldwell and Alma Wilson, both of Shelby, and Fannie Mulford of Gaffney.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. U.D. Vernon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Body will be placed in the church Monday at 1 p.m.

Eva C. Roddy
Cherokee County native
CHARLOTTE - Eva Cartee Roddy, 95, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital.
Born September 2, 1907, in Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Essie and Edgar Cartee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Roddy. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Cartee of Pineville, N.C.; a son. Mitchell Cartee of Concord, N.C.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m.Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made Harris Hospice, 200 Hawthorne Lane, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, N.C. 28233; or to Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, E. 15th Street, Charlotte, N.C.

Doris Jean Phillips
Cherokee County native
Doris Jean Phillips, 48, of 201 Granite Dr., died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 8:55 p.m. at Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Spartanburg.
Daughter of the late Wineva Phillips, she was reared by her grandparents, the late Deacon and Mrs. Claude McCluney. She was a native of Cherokee County and a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the Adult Choir. She was a 1972 graduate of Gaffney High School and employed by Alco.
She is survived by four brothers, Robert Phillips of Germany, Ralph Phillips of Gaffney, Steven Phillips and Barry Savage of the home; five sisters, Tammy Davidson, Vivian Phillips, Alesia Savage, Barbara Savage, all of Gaffney, and Zina Phillips of the home; stepfather, Ralph Savage; a number of aunts and nephews and one great-aunt.
A brother, Tony Savage, preceded her in death.
Services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. U.D. Vernon and the Revs. David Vernon, L.C. Knuckles, Omigene Proctor and Tony Macomson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.
Pallbearers will be members of Gaffney High School, Class of 1972. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Dawkins, Larry Wallace, Larry Byars, Bobby Smith, Robert Tate, Nathan Crosby, Kenny Knuckles and Steve Camp.
Flower bearers will be members of the Gaffney High School, Class of 1972. Honorary flower bearers will be Keitha Burris, Georgia Oglesby, Teldo Dawkins, Mary Hines, Adela Bridges, Elaine Manning and Janice Rainey.

Bontee O. Davis

Bontee O’Neal Davis, 52, of 630 Colonial Ave., Apt. 53, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg.
Daughter of Ruth Dawkins of Gaffney and the late Monroe Dawkins, she was a native of Cherokee County and a member of Albert Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Granard High School and was employed by Diversco.
Also surviving are a son, Marcus Davis of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Crystal Davis of Blacksburg, Shenda Davis and Ashley Davis of Spartanburg; two brothers, Leon Dawkins of Blacksburg and Conell Dawkins of Gaffney; four sisters, Elaine Montgomery, Betty Sue Dawkins, Elizabeth Jefferies, all of Gaffney, and Mildred Williams of Flint, Mich,; and six grandchildren.
Service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Dunton United Methodist Church with Revs. John Wesley Evans, Larry Davis, Thelma Gordon, O.L. Long and Norris Long officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Drewell Hames, Cedric Smith, Terry Edwards, Shawn Dawkins, Vincent Edwards, Mike Dawkins, Doug Dawkins and William Powell.
Flower Bearers will be Pricilla Lockhart, Ann Parker, Brenda Thompson, Debra Jones, Tasha Bradley, Lillian Camp, Ruby Shooks and Catrina Wheeler.
