Lillie M. Allen
Cherokee County native
Lillie Manning Allen, 83, of 1622 Green Lee Rd., Mooresboro, N.C., widow of Deacon Oliver Allen, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at 8:45 a.m. at Crawley Memorial Hospital, Boiling Springs, N.C.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late James F. Manning and the late Stella Humphries Manning. She was a member and deaconess of Mikes Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Mary Allen, Ruth Pryor, Brenda Carpenter, all of Shelby, Elaine Leach and Genevia Palmer, both of Gaffney; seven sons, Don Allen, James Allen, both of Shelby, Louis Allen of the home, Elizie Lee Allen of Ellenboro, N.C., Steve Allen of Mooresboro, Johnny Allen of Charlotte and Thomas Allen of Greenville; five sisters, Doris Manning, Floie Spelle, Vergie Wray, Ruth Aiken and Lilia Aiken, all of Mooresboro; three brothers, the Rev. Richard Manning of Reading, Pa., Gary Manning of York, Pa., and the Rev. Warren Manning of Gaffney; 55 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mikes Creek Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Samuel M. Johnson, Dr. Leon C. Rector, the Rev. Paul Miller and Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Joshua E. Henderson Sr.
Gaffney native
Joshua Earl Henderson Sr., 26, of 708 Beech St., died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Luz Henderson and son of James Grover Henderson Sr. and Margaret Parker Henderson. He was an employee of Sco-Mar.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a son, Joshua Earl Henderson Jr. of Spartanburg; and a sister, April Gimbel Lott of Gaffney.
Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by a brother, James Grover Henderson Jr.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Dewitt Clyde. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
The family is at the residence.

Roger D. Robinson
Former taxi driver
Roger Dale Robinson, 57, of 1808 Beech St., died Friday, July 18, 2003, at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Rev. Cecil Robinson and the late Virginia Ballard Robinson. He was a former taxi driver and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Blackwell of Gaffney; two grandchildren; a brother, Don "Greasy" Robinson of Gaffney; and a sister, Carolyn Holcomb of Gaffney.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Silica Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Lynn Ford and Jerry Ruppe. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
The family is at the home of his daughter at 105 McArthur St.

J.R. Stroupe
Member of Cherokee County Council for 20 years
J.R. Stroupe, 75, of 1045 McKowns Mountain Rd., died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at his residence.
A native of Gaffney, Mr. Stroupe was the husband of Lillian Jean Wofford Stroupe and son of the late Gary Stroupe and the late Josie Davis Stroupe. He was a self-employed service station owner and served on the Cherokee County Council for 20 years. Mr. Stroupe was a veteran and a member of McKowns Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, James Wofford Stroupe of Gaffney; two daughters, Janet Ward and Amy Jackson of Gaffney; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel Gordon and Reba Erwin, both of Gaffney.
The family is at the residence.
Arrangements are incomplete.
Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.

Ralph B. Crawford
Driver for Rehabilitation Services
Ralph Benjamin Crawford, 73, of 2032 Union Hwy., died July 20, 2003, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Mary Lemmons Crawford and son of the late Tom Crawford and the late Lois Yones Crawford. He was a driver for South Carolina Rehabilitation Services and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Randy Crawford of Gaffney; a daughter, Linda Dickson of Gaffney; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Watson of Gaffney.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Bill Lutz.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Shuford-Hatcher funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence.
