Harold D. Atkins
Retired insurance salesman
INMAN – Harold D. Atkins, 77, of 142 Rainbow Circle, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at his residence.
A native of Spartanburg County, Mr. Atkins was the husband of Thelma Alverson Atkins and son of the late Robert Earl and Bertha Arledge Atkins. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a retired insurance salesman and of the Baptist faith.
Also surviving are a daughter, Janis Heaton of Boiling Springs; two sons, Gregg Atkins of Boiling Springs and Jeff Alverson of Ringgold, Ga.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Chapel, conducted by Dr. Jeff Alverson and the Rev. Al Phillips. Burial was in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
The family is at the residence.

Nancy Lipscomb
Retired accountant
Nancy Moss Lipscomb, 81, of 1830 W. Cherokee St. in Blacksburg, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 in Brookview Healthcare System.
Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late George W. Moss and the late Tampy Caroline Smith Moss.
She was a retired tax accountant, non-denominational and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is survived by a sister, Elma Moss of the home; and a brother, W.Y. “Dub” Moss of Blacksburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, A.W. Moss, Osborne Moss and K.W. Moss.
Visitation will be held tonight from 7 to 8 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Frederick Memorial Gardents, with the Rev. Alester McKinney officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Robbie Moss, David Fortenberry, John Beason, David Phillips and Rannie and Riker Moss.
The family members are at their respective homes.

Geneva P. Henson
Retired from Gaffney Manufacturing
Geneva P. Henson, 76, of P-73 Limestone Courts in Gaffney, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cherokee Co., she was the widow of James Howard Henson, and the daughter of the late Claude Pennington and the late Ollie Turner Pennington.
She was a retired canteen employee at Gaffney Manufacturing Co. and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Hall and Steve Henson of Gaffney; three brothers, Lee Pennington and Joe Pennington of Gaffney and Frank Pennington of Dixon, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Lamb of Cherokee Falls; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are incomplete.
Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.
Memorials may be made to the Missions Fund at Northside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 508, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
The family is at the residence of a son, Mike Hall, 179 Ruth Drive in Gaffney.
