Mary C. Worthy
Retired registered nurse
Mary Corry Worthy, 67, of Apartment 33, Beltline Courts, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at her residence.
Daughter of the late Rena Mayberry and the late James “Hack” Dawkins, she was the widow of John W. Worthy and a native of Cherokee County. She was reared by the late Arthur Corry and the late Mattie Harris Corry. She graduated from Granard High School and was a retired nurse from Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md.
Surviving are four sisters, Vernice D. Montgomery, Wilma Davis, both of Gaffney, Shirley Cumberlander of Washington, D.C., and Maxine McFadden of the Bronx, N.Y.; and a brother, Joe Calvin Dawkins of Washington, D.C.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
The family is at the home of Marva and Clarence Dover, 124 Brookshire Dr. in Northgate.

Marie Gallman
Retired from Minette Mills
Marie Gallman, 96, formerly of 1000 N. Granard St., died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at Peachtree Centre.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late D.J. Gallman and the late Jane Poole Gallman. She was retired from Minette Mills and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
The family is at the home of Frances Sanders, 112 Gettys Dr.

Evelyn B. Brown
Retired judge
Evelyn B. Brown, 85, of Brookview HealthCare Center, 510 Thompson St., widow of Syvester Brown, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at 8:45 a.m. at Brookview Healthcare Center. She was a former resident of Town and Country Apartments.
A native of Blacksburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Brown and the late Irene Goodwin Brown. She was a retired Municipal Court magistrate in Washington, D.C.
Surviving are two cousins, Rita Goodwin and Joe Laney of Washington, D.C.
Graveside services will be held today at noon at Mountain View Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Thelma Gordon, Larry Davis and Willie Wood. Urn interment will follow.

David Ross Spaugh
David Ross Spaugh, 56, of 938 Overbrook Dr., died suddenly at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003.
David was born on Oct. 22, 1946, in Forsyth County to the late Luther David Spaugh Jr. and Virginia Louise Burton Spaugh. He was a graduate of N.C. State University in the Class of 1969 with a B.S. degree in industrial engineering and a minor in electrical engineering.
David was medically retired from Fuller Brush Co. in Great Bend, Kansas. He married the love his his life, Jeanette Perry Partin, on Jan. 25, 1969.
A family memorial service was held on Monday evening, Oct. 20, 2003, at L. Harold Poole Crematory, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, N.C., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ken Altom, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Jeanette, are his children, Luther David Spaugh III of Greenville, N.C., Ida Angelique Spaugh Welch of Charlotte, N.C., Cherie Partin Johnson of Gaffney, Virginia Partin Collins of Augusta, Ga., and Dwight Wesley Partin of Atlanta, Ga.; three wonderful grandchildren, Megan Kristina Collins, Erin Nicole Johnson and Christopher Ashley Collins; a cousin, Ann McCaskill of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a stepmother, Esmma Spaugh of Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Spaugh family has requested that memorial contributions be made in memory of David c/o New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4301 Louisburg Rd., Raleigh, N.C. 27604.

Corrie A. Allison
Retired textile employee
BLACKSBURG – Services for Corrie Allen Allison, 87, of 182 Oak Grove Rd., formerly of 412 S. Chester St., Blacksburg, will be held today at 2 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Lester Haney. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Blacksburg Senior Center, Academy Street, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.
The family is at 182 Oak Grove Rd., Blacksburg.

Rosa M. Ellison
Textile weaver
Rosa Mabell Ellison, 89, of Peachtree Centre, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003.
A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Jack Mack and Jessie Scruggs Ellison. She was a weaver in textiles and was a member of New Pleasant Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Robert Ellison of Spartanburg; a sister, Alice E. Burnett of Inman; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at New Pleasant Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. George Holland and Tommy Ross. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, 2939 Chesnee Hwy., Spartanburg, S.C. 29307.
The family is at the home of her brother, 2299 Chesnee Hwy., Spartanburg.
