Margaret M. Norton
Mother of Gaffney minister
Margaret Vera Milholen Norton, 87, of 1235 Hunter Bridge Road, Stony Point, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, surrounded by her family. She had been in declining health for several years.
Born Feb. 17, 1916, in Alexander County to the late George Lee and Vera Miller Milholen, she was married to William Howard Norton for 71 years before his death on Aug. 30, 2003.
She was 1984 Mother of the Year at Stony Point Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for approximately 50 years and co-treasurer for 22 years. Her husband, children, grandchildren and church were the joy of her life.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by three brothers, three infant siblings and one grandson, Dale Johnson.
Surviving are three sons, Lynn Norton of Stony Point, the Rev. Sidney Norton of Gaffney and the Rev. Wayne Norton of Taylors; two daughters, Carolyn Walker of Statesville, N.C., and Joyce Keever of Taylorsville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stony Point Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Sidney Norton, Henry Cook, Marshall Sargent and J.T. Cline. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Howard Lynn Norton, Alan Norton, Jimmy Norton, Nathan Hines, David Hines, Benjy Norton, Norman Norton, Bill Norton and Kelvin Elder.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends tonight from 7-9 in the A.D. Lindsey Hall.
Memorials may be made to New Heights Baptist Church Renovation Fund, 1367 Pleasant School Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

Jimmie D. Stanley
Retired truck driver instructor
Jimmie Dean Stanley, 65, of 117 Warrior Drive, Gaffney, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at his residence.
A native of Rutherford County, N.C., he was a son of Eula Mae Dill Edwards and the late James Worth Edwards. He was a retired truck driver instructor at Isothermal Community College and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Clara Queen Stanley of the home; two sons, Dean Stanley and Lee Spencer, both of High Point, N.C.; three daughters, Patricia Richardson and Lisa Jones, both of High Point, and Tina Kiger of Thomasville, N.C.; a brother, Charles Edwards of Boiling Springs; a sister, Pat Merrill of Spindale, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.

Glenn E. Stanford
Gaffney native
Glenn Edward Stanford, 33, of 602 Anthony St., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in Spartanburg Regional Healthcare.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of Gloria Thomas Spencer of the home and the late Gary Wayne Stanford. He was a member of Kirby Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a daughter, Kelly Stanford of Gaffney; a brother, Gary Stanford of Spartanburg; a sister, Tammy Spencer Hodges of Saint Matthews, S.C.; and maternal grandmother, Doris Thomas of the home.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Stanford.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bill Lutz. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Thomas, Sammy Powell, Tony Millen, Kevin Hodges, Clint Hood and Mike Gault.
The family is at the residence.

Junie White
Retired from South Carolina Department of Agriculture
Junie White, 91, of 207 River Drive, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. White was the widower of Vernell Baker White and son of the late Junious White and the late Emily Gardner White. Retired from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, he was member of East Gaffney Baptist Church and the Gaffney Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are two sisters, Nellie Cudd of Gaffney and Jamie Dixon of Social Hill, S.C., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at East Gaffney Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Ron Jackson and Weldon Sellers. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Vess, Ralph Bright, Devonna Gallman, Kenneth Gallman, Don Wyatt, Whitey Grant, Parks Hill and Perrin Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Allison Sunday School Class of East Gaffney Baptist Church.
The family is at the residence.
Memorials may be made to East Gaffney Baptist Church Building Fund, 2308 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

Juanita G. Kiser
Blacksburg native
Juanita Gaffney Kiser, 91, of Apt. 7-C, Peachtree Apartments, 100 Killion Drive, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Blacksburg, she was the widow of Robert William Kiser and daughter of the late George William Gaffney and the late Earnest Smith Gaffney. She was a homemaker and member of Draytonville Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Danny Kiser of the home; a daughter, Nancy Kiser Sisk of Shelby; a sister, Virginia Calvert of Dickleville, N.J.; two grandchildren, Bobby Steen and his wife, Nancy, of Shelby and Ken Steen of Durham, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Mark Steen and Matt Steen, both of Shelby; special cousins, Patsy James, Freida Holmes, Carroll Gaffney, Dora Blanton and Larry Gaffney; and a special niece, Patricia Patterson.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Little Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Todd Braswell.
The family is at the home of Patsy James, 310 Vernon St.
