Janie T. Jolley
Janie Elizabeth Towery Jolley, 94, of 1938 Cherokee National Hwy., died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at her home.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Amos Osborne Jolley and daughter of the late William Fletcher Towery and the late Cynthia Veronia Hunt Towery. She was a homemaker and member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Jean Scruggs of Charlotte and Mary Houtkin of Gaffney; three sons, David Jolley of Texas, Charles Jolley of Alabama and Cecil Jolley of Gaffney; three sisters, Connie Butler of Forest City, N.C., Lottie Scruggs of Gaffney and Blanchie Carrouth of Fort Mill; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Stuart Kersey and Mr. Alan Terry. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Jolly, Joel Jolly, Charles M. Jolly, Gregory Jolly, James M. Jolly, Randy Scruggs, Rodney Green, Sheldon Scruggs and Jeffery Green.
The family is at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund, 505 Fairview Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

Lillian P. Dye
Cherokee County native
BLACKSBURG - Lillian Parker Dye, 77, of Mulberry Apartments, widow of Denorris Dye, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at 6:54 a.m. in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Daughter of the late Mamie Parker, she was a native of Cherokee County and a former member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Blacksburg.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Paul Zackery Davis III of York, Valessa Davis of Rock Hill and Joshua Davis of Marshall University, Huntington, W.Va.; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Revs. Dennis W. Funderburk, D.W. Smith and J.C. Miller Sr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.
Pallbearers and flower bearers will be family and friends.

Dolores M. Queen
Wife of Gaffney native
CLOVIS, N.M. – Dolores M. Queen, 65, of Clovis, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
Born on April 9, 1938, in Clovis to Bill and Julia Yslas Romero, she married John Queen of Gaffney on March 30, 1968, in Clovis. She was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and involved in ceramics at the Friendship Senior Citizen Center.
Surviving are her husband, John Queen, of Clovis; three sons, William Joseph Queen of Biloxi, Miss., Daniel Dee Queen of Biloxi, Miss., and Christopher Allan Queen of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Sherry Lee Ann Queen of Biloxi, Miss; mother, Julia Romero of Clovis; four brothers, James Romero of Albuquerque, N.M., Richard Romero of Barstow, Calif., Robert Romero of Chula Vista, Calif., and Paul Romero of Clovis; four sisters, Helen Gauna of Clovis, Evelyn Hakes of Laurens, Iowa, Marcella Bissell of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Paula Auger of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Romero, and a brother, Pete Romero.
Rosary was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 2 p.m. Father Sotero Sena officiated. Cremation has taken place.

James A. Wilkins Sr.
Retired from R&R Donnelly
SPARTANBURG – James A. Wilkins Sr., 65, of 1050 Beacon Light Road, husband of Elaine Dewberry Wilkins, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at his residence.
Son of the late Deacon Cannon Wilkins and the late Mable Rose Wilkins, he was a native of Spartanburg County and 1958 graduate of B.E. Mayes High School. He was a member of White Plains Baptist Church and a retired employee of R&R Donnelly Plant.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Andrey Wilkins of Long Beach, Calif., and James Wilkins Jr. of the home; two daughters, Angelea Wilkins of Greenwood and Tonya Wilkins of Simpsonville; two sisters, Minnie Oglesby of Cowpens and Ida Askew of Fayetteville, N.C.; and two grandchildren reared in the home, Ansley Dover of the home and Terrell Dunmeyer of Charleston.
The family is at 1144 Bunche Lane, Cowpens.

Elvira M. Thompson
Services for Elvira Renee Martin Thompson, 43, of 936 O’Neal St., wife of Philmon Timouthy Thompson, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Allen Temple C.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers will be William Littlejohn, Hazel Ross, John Dover, Greg Jefferies, William B.J. Jenkins, Joe Barnes, Dinnie Michael and Vincent Dawkins.
Flower bearers will be Charlotte Littlejohn, Barbara Thompson, Lisa Young, Connie Tate, Shirley Mae Adams, Teressa Jefferies, Donna Hamilton, Regina Lockhart, Donna Jackson and Gwen Jones.
Honorary pallbearers and flower bearers will be members of the Class of 1979.
The family is at the home of her sister, Joyce Propst, 132 Kings Road, Gaffney.

Shauna B. Brown
Second grade student at Goucher Elementary
Shauna Breann Brown, 7, of 142 Lisa’s Lane, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C.
A native of Gaffney, her guardians were E.W. “Trace” Crawford III and Betty Crawford of the home. She was the daughter of Craig Brown and Tammi Byars Caskey. She was a second grade student at Goucher Elementary School and was a member of Elm Street Church of God.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jordan Brown and Michael Spencer, both of Gaffney; and a sister, Mikki Spencer of Gaffney.
Arrangements are incomplete.
