Kristie C. Cudd
Gaffney native
Kristie Lorraine Carver Cudd, 26, of 118 London Lane, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in Gaffney.
A native of Gaffney, she was the wife of Sean Cudd and daughter of Kathy Lorraine Carver of Gaffney. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
Also surviving is her maternal grandfather, John T. Carver of Gaffney.
Arrangements are incomplete. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.

Lawrence D. Wylie
Cherokee County native
GROVER, N.C. – Lawrence David Wylie, 67, of 213 Carolina Ave., died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Genetta Wilson Wylie and a member of First Baptist Church of Grover.
Surviving are a son, Christopher Wylie of Grover; two brothers, George Wylie of Gaffney and Walter Wylie of Marion, N.C.; five sisters, Maybell Martin of Kings Creek, Tommie Ledbetter of Blacksburg, Betty Moore of Michigan, Mildred Black of Kings Mountain and Bessie Ledbetter of Gaffney; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
In addition his parents, Mr. Wylie was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Wylie, and a daughter, Gaynell Wylie.
The family will be at the home in Grover.
Arrangements are incomplete. White Columns of Blacksburg is in charge.

Buddy Upchurch
Self-employed tree surgeon
William Edward “Buddy” Upchurch, 50, of 715 Fourth St., died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of the late Roscoe Upchurch and the late Ella Mullinax Upchurch. He was a self-employed tree surgeon and trimmer and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Sarah Robbins of Gaffney and Sandra Sasser of Monroe, La.; and three brothers, Harold Upchurch, Marshall Up-church and Bobby Upchurch, all of Gaffney.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Upchurch was preceded in death by two brothers, Roscoe Upchurch Jr. and Robert Upchurch, and a sister, Betty Frazier.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Dean Painter and Randy McCraw. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Fowler, Leonard Peeler, Roger Turner, Pinto Scates, Ricky Combee and Michael Hadden.
The family will receive friends today from 2-3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times they will be at their respective homes.

Voard Littlejohn
Cowpens native
COWPENS – Voard Littlejohn, 98, of 171 Pacolet Hwy., widower of Josephine Thomas Littlejohn, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at 4:10 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Son of the late Jack Littlejohn and the late Eva L. Littlejohn, he was a native of Cowpens and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Sanders Littlejohn, of Columbus, Ga., and Cora Culbreth of Cowpens who was like a daughter.
Arrangements are incomplete. Foster Funeral Home, Gaffney, is in charge.

Jimmy Lee Phillips
Employed by Brown Packing
Jimmy Lee Phillips, 59, of 805 Anthony St., widower of Verdell Dawkins Phillips, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at 1:35 p.m. in Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Spartanburg.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of Jimmy Phillips and Pirliner Camp Phillips of Gaffney. He was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church and was employed by Brown Packing Company.
Surviving are five daughters, Vickie McKinney, Charlene Brown, Charlotte Wade and Carla Phillips, all of Gaffney, and Alexis Phillips of the home; two sons, Douglas Dawkins Sr. and Michael Dawkins of Gaffney; a sister, Hettie Phillips of Gaffney; a brother, John W. Phillips of Gaffney and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Suck Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Tony Macomson and J.W. Richards and Dr. A.L. Brackett. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
