Lena S. Edwards
Retired from Hamrick Musgrove Mill
Lena Scruggs Edwards, 84, of 405 Holmes St., died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at her residence.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Jimmy William Edwards and daughter of the late Adolphus Scruggs and the late Flora Lewis Scruggs. She was a retired spinner from Hamrick Musgrove Mill and was a member of Christian Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Pattie Edwards Wyatt of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Lisa Roddam and Tommy Goode, both of Gaffney; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lessie Huskey of Texas.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Alan Peeler. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Goode, Thomas Goode, Sam Roddam, Roger Dickson and Cameron Dickson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Goode and Buck Proctor.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home and at other times they will be at the residence.

Alfred W. Price
Retired carpenter and farmer
Alfred W. Price, 96, of 645 Fairview Road, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Rosalee Johnson Price of the home and son of the late Doc Price and the late Emily Linder Price. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Margaret Parker, Hazel Phillips, Vivian Morris and Sybil Sarratt, all of Gaffney; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Price was preceded in death by brothers, Jim Price and Frank Price, and sisters, Georgia Allison, Marie Johnson, Lilly Jolly and Era Reynolds.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Stuart Kersey. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed at 10 a.m. in the church, where the family will receive friends until 10:45.
The family is at the residence.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Fairview Baptist Church, 505 Fairview Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

Tessie G. Kimbrell
Retired from Wendell Plastics
BLACKSBURG – Tessie G. Kimbrell, 97, formerly of Kimbrell Road, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Rock Hill Healthcare in Rock Hill.
Born in Knoxville, Tenn., she was the widow of Carl Kimbrell and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gossett. She was an active member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, a past member of the Eastern Star, a former member of the Blacksburg Council for the Aging and retired from Wendell Plastics.
Mrs. Kimbrell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Ray and Dorothy Ann Kimbrell of Blacksburg; daughter and son-in-law, Grace K. and Billy R. Black of Winnsboro; daughter-in-law, Jewel S. Kimbrell of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kimbrell was preceded in death by a son, William C. Kimbrell.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Archie Chapman and Darrell Revels and Dr. Charles Moss. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dean Hoyle, Steve Whitman, Jack Scott, Douglas Childers, Bryan Stuckey Sr., Carl Black, Chris Childers, Justin Hoyle, Jeremy Black and Jordan Hoyle.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30-8:30 at White Columns of Blacksburg and at other times they will be at the home of her son at 531 Whites Farm Road, Blacksburg.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 105 Mt. Paran Road, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.

Makala E. Watkins
Baby Makala Elizabeth Watkins of 409 Granite Drive died Monday, May 10, 2004, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Spartanburg.
Surviving are her mother, Calanda Watkins of the home; father, Jerry McGill of Gaffney; grandparents, Joe Watkins and Mary Watkins, Charles McGill and Mary McGill, all of Gaffney; great-grandmothers, Genell Mayes and Nancy Watkins of Gaffney.
Services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darryl Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shaquille Davidson and La’Trez Pinckney.
Flower bearers will be Ashlee Tate, Lateara Mayes, Shantae Davidson, A’Brea Ratchford and Kalen Smith.
The family is at 2407 Beech St.
