Deborah W. Duvall
Beautician
Deborah Kay White Duvall, 46, of 802 Colonial Ave., died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the daughter of Floyd M. White Sr. and Shirley Searcy White. She was a beautician and former employee of Ithica Industries. She was a loving daughter, mother and sister and was a member of Elm Street Church of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Amber Mechell Duvall of the home; a brother, Floyd M. White Jr. of Gaffney; and a special aunt, Betty Simmons of Gaffney.
Mrs. Duvall was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Edward White.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Elm Street Church of God, conducted by the Revs. James Garner and Wilton Scruggs and Dr. Gary Bell. Body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Rodney White, Jimmy White, Chuckie Lynn, Jack Simmons Jr., Clay Early, Jared Clay and Butch Nance.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home.

Ernestine Wood
Retired from Graham Cash
Ernestine Wood, 95, formerly of 1414 Twin Bridge Road, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Landrum Ellison Wood Sr. and the late Minnie Patrick Wood. She was a retired sales clerk for Graham Cash and was a member of New Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Smith Wood of Gaffney; two sisters, Eloise Sarratt and Meda Blackmon, both of Gaffney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Miss Wood was preceded in death by three half-brothers, J.B. Wood, A.B. Wood and Lloyd Wood; a half-sister, Marie Phillips; two brothers, James Wood and L.E. Wood Jr.; and three sisters, Margaret McAbee, Elizabeth Brewer and Ethel Sarratt.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sidney Norton and Dr. Roger Aycock. Burial will be in Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home prior to the service. At other times they will be at the home of Smith Wood, 1414 Twin Bridge Road.

Mae R. Ledford
Cherokee County native
Mae Ruth Ledford, 78, formerly of Mayo, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at The Laurels of Hendersonville.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Thomas O. Ledford and daughter of the late Grover C. and Minnie Blanton Swofford. She was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas "Teddy" Ledford of Mayo and Terry Wayne Ledford of Chesnee; a sister, Alease Hall of Spartanburg; a brother, John Henry Swofford of Arcadia; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Chapel in Chesnee, conducted by the Rev. John Cox. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Larry Cash, Ron Ledford, Larry Ledford, John Earl Swofford, Matt Swofford and Howard Hall.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Brenda Ledford, 915 Mayo Road, Mayo.

Ernestine F. White
Retired from Limestone Mill
Ernestine Fowler White, 73, of Apt. 42, Beltline Courts, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at her residence.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Charlie White and daughter of the late Ernest Fowler and the late Clara Crocker Fowler. She was retired from Limestone Mill and was a very active member of Kirby Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Denise Collins, Phyllis Bailey and husband, Gary, all of Gaffney and Vicky Spencer of Woodruff; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Bloomer of Toledo, Ohio; and two sisters, Betty Yeargin and Pat Osteen, both of Gaffney.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by two brothers, F.M. Fowler and Sonny Bloomer; a son-in-law, Ronnie Collins; and stepmother, Maybell Fowler.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kirby Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Rich Lancaster, Mike Proctor and Benny Davis. Entombment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers were Chris Stone, Tony Stone, Tony Allison, Chuck Bailey, Wayne Bailey, Clay Collins, Michael Allman, Lee Allman and Timmy Allison.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Denise Collins, 1108 E. Frederick St.

Sarah F. Snead
Retired from Magnolia Finishing
BLACKSBURG – Sarah F. Snead, 79, of 413 Hardin St., died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob (J.P.) Petty and Lula Byars Snead. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she was active in the J.O.Y. group. She was also a member of the Blacksburg Senior Center and was retired from Magnolia Finishing.
Surviving are a daughter, Marie F. Snead of the home; a sister, Sudie S. Cable of Blacksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Harry Snead, brothers, John Snead, Herbert Snead, Richard Snead, Rufus Snead and William Snead; and three sisters, Emmie Ashe, Pauline Barrett and Louise Snead.
Services will be held today at 5:30 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Bobby Cable, Billy Sanders, Joe Paul Turner and Dr. Charlie Barnard. Body will be placed in the church at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following in the Recreation Outreach Center and at other times they will be at the home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Patterson, Tracy McDaniel, Ronnie McDaniel, Danny Ham, Ricky Wright and Vaughn Pitts.

Linda J. Mullinax
Homemaker
Linda Dianne Jones Mullinax, 61, of 608 11th St., died Sunday, July 18, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the wife of Furman Mullinax and daughter of the late Lewis Brooks Jones and the late Julia Kathleen Gordon Hughey. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Also surviving are a daughter, Debra Ramsey of Gaffney; a son, Scott Mullinax of Gaffney; six sisters, Francis Young of Spartanburg, Carolyn Calvert, Sandra Frady, Barbara Mullinax, Julia Cooper and Vickie Shelton, all of Gaffney; three brothers, Dean Jones, Roger Hughey and Rickey Hughey, all of Gaffney; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Sardis United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Harold Dean Painter and Richard Lancaster.
Pallbearers will be Rick Sellars, Jim Parker, Bryan Patterson, Arthur Frady, Donnie Cooper and Ted Young.
The family is at the home of Debra Ramsey, 242 Roundtree Road.

Norma L. Gibson
Retired from Rose's Department Store
Norma Lee Gibson, 72, of 100 Fairfield Drive, Apt. 1-B, died Friday, July 16, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Coby Lee Gibson and the late Flora Coyle Gibson. She was a retired cashier for Rose's Department Store and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are a sister, Barbara Bloomer of Gaffney; and three nephews, Johnny Bloomer, Dennis Bloomer, both of Gaffney, and Randy Bloomer of Sumter.
Graveside services were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Mike Proctor.
Pallbearers were Johnny Bloomer, Dennis Bloomer, Randy Bloomer, Nick Bloomer, Trey Bloomer and Berry Bloomer.
The family is at the home of Dennis Bloomer, 30 Bo Lane.

Essie W. Manning
Services for Essie Mae Williams Manning, 84, of Brookview HealthCare Center, will be held today at 2 p.m. at Dunton United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. John Wesley Evans. Burial will be in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 1:30-2 p.m. at the church.

Jacqueline D. Dawkins
Cleveland County native
BLACKSBURG – Jacqueline Denise Dawkins, 37, of 278 Borders Road, died Friday, July 16, 2004, in North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winton-Salem, N.C.
A native of Cleveland County, N.C., she was a 1984 graduate of Blacksburg High School and a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Gaffney. She was last employed by The Timken Company in Gaffney.
Surviving are her mother, Jessie D. Wilson of the home; stepfather, Eugene Wilson of the home; a sister, Tawanna Calhoun of Shelby; a brother, Tarrance Dawkins of Gastonia; and a cousin who was reared in the home as a brother, the Rev. Jeffery Dawkins of Blacksburg.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at New Mount Zion Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Roger Mason. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. until the hour of services.
