Ruth L. Burts
Gaffney native
CHARLOTTE – Ruth Littlejohn Burts, 95, of 8919 Park Road, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in Carolinas Medical Center, Pineville, N.C.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Dr. Charles W. Burts and daughter of the late Dr. Joe Littlejohn and the late Susie Parker Littlejohn. She was a retired social worker and graduate of Winthrop University. She received her master's degree from Columbia University and was a member of Myers Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Watson Burts of Charlotte; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Sherry G. McAbee
Retired RN
Sherry Eve Gordon McAbee, 51, of 101 Lakewood Drive, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at her residence.
A native of Gaffney, she was the wife of Roger McAbee and daughter of Margaret Sentell Gordon of Gaffney and the late Olin Gordon. She was a registered nurse and retied from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was a graduate of Gardner-Webb University and a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are a daughter, Kayce McAbee of the home; three sisters, Nancy Spencer, Linda Carroll, both of Gaffney, and Elaine Bare of Kannapolis, N.C.; and a special niece, Elizabeth Foster of Gaffney.
In addition to her father, Mrs. McAbee was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Wayne Phillips.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Greg Richardson, Bobby McAbee, John McAbee, Kenny Bare, J.D. Ness, Jimmy McAbee, Mike Elbaset and Clyde McNeil.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence.

Lillian D. Deane
Worked as waitress in Baltimore for 17 years
Lillian Dorene Dudley Deane, 84, of 474 Peeler Creek Road, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at her home.
A native of Virginia, she was the widow of James Russell Deane and daughter of the late Lemuel Dudley and the late Hattie Dudley. She was a waitress in Baltimore for 17 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are three daughter, Sharon Guyton, Linda Bailey, both of Gaffney, and Marilyn Jean Davis of Bayshore, N.Y.; a son, Donald Barns of Raphine, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hilda Breeden of Stanardsville, Va.
The family is at the home of Sherry Parris, 336 Limestone Springs Road, Gaffney.
Arrangements are incomplete. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.

Brenda B. Ure
Connecticut native
BLACKSBURG – Brenda Bell Ure, 47, of 206 E. Clairborne, Apt. 6-A., died Thursday, July 29, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Meriden, Conn., she was the daughter of Betty Smith Bell of the home and the late Robert Lee Bell. She was the wife of Robert John Ure.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by three daughters, Patricia Nacole Ure of Gaffney, Sabrina Rena' Ure and Cassie Kaye Ure, both of the home; four sisters, Kathy Lee Barnes of Gaffney, Rachell Ann Benton, Lorretta Lynn Ross and Carmen Corey Bell, all of Blacksburg; and two brothers, Eddie Lee Bell and Michael Terry Bell, both of Blacksburg.
The family will be at the home on Clairborne Street. Arrangements are incomplete.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Brenda Ure Burial Fund, c/o P.O. Box 331, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.
