Stanley W. White
Cartoonist for The Ledger
Stanley Warren White, 58, of 1633 Burnt Gin Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Greenville, he was the husband of Shirley Kanipe White and son of Pearl Wilson White of Spartanburg and the late W. Taft White. He was an artist and formerly employed by Fashion Engravers, where he worked for 30 years. He was an editorial cartoonist for The Gaffney Ledger, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of West End Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Shane Kanipe White of Spartanburg; a daughter, Sheila Kanipe White of the home; and two sisters, Brenda Connor of Spartanburg and Marlene Walker of Palm Coast, Fla.
The family is at the residence.
Arrangements are incomplete. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge.

Nathaniel Harper
Retired from Firestone Tire Co.
TRENTON, N.J. – Nathaniel Harper, 80, of 512 Union St., widower of Julia Montgomery Harper, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, in Watersedge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
A long-time resident of Trenton, he was the son of the late Cora Wilson and was a U.S. Army veteran. He became a school crossing guard after retiring from Firestone Tire Company.
Surviving are three daughters, Nadine Hailu, Strawcy Gillison, both of Temple Hills, Md., and Cora Corry of Upper Marlboro, Md.; a son, Nathan Harper of Moore; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at noon at Greater Fellowship Full Gospel Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.

Phillip D. Bates
Memorial services for Phillip Dean Bates, 62, of 70 S. Third St., Coatsville, Pa., will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel, con-ducted by Brother Robert Baldwin and Brother Wade Hamilton.
The family is at the home of Jessie Elnora Bates-Washington, 142 Bates Road, Gaffney.

Ricky Lee Huskey Jr.
ROCK HILL – Ricky Lee Huskey Jr., infant son of Ricky Lee and Elizabeth Burns Huskey of 1861 Indian Trail, died Friday, Sept. 3. 2004, in Piedmont Medical Center.
Surviving in addition to his parents are paternal grandfather, Fred Scruggs of Gaffney; paternal grandmother, Sandra Gilliam and paternal stepgrandfather, Robert Gilliam, of Mooresboro, N.C.; maternal grandparents, Neal and Dawn Sanders of Rock Hill; paternal great-grandfather, Lee Ed-ward Gunn Sr. of Columbia; paternal great-grandmother, Mamie Childress of Gaffney; and maternal great-grandmother, Freddie Rodgers of Rock Hill.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grandview Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Terry Floyd.

Virginia W. Keisler
Retired social worker
UNION – Virginia Wilson Keisler, 85, of 803 E. Main St., wife of Wallace Keisler Jr., died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at 12:37 a.m. at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Keisler was born in Asheville, N.C., on Feb. 14, 1919, a daughter of the late Oscar and Maude Cowan Wilson. She graduated from Emma High School in Asheville and Dell Mar School in Detroit, Mich. She was a retired social worker with Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Also surviving are a son, Robert Woods of Gaffney; a grandson, Jayden Woods of Gaffney; two sisters, Vernelle W. Brown of Asheville and Lois W. Wild of Brooklyn, Mich.; and a brother, Joe Wilson of Hillsdale, Mich.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keisler was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor W. Johnson.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Union Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Roger Plemmons.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home.
