Lila Hunter Simpson

Lila Hunter Simpson, 94, formerly of 1434 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at the Peachtree Center.
A native of Hot Springs, N.C., she was the widow of James Ruebun Simpson and daughter of the late George Washington Hunter and the late Cora Lee Harkleroad Hunter. Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and member of West End Baptist Church.
Surviving is a son James Simpson of Gaffney; a daughter Joan Hass of Gaffney; four sisters, Ruth Velykis of Philadephia, Josephine Voelschow of Los Cruces, N.M. and Evelyn Shepherd and Norma Palmer both of Ellenton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Simpson is preceded in death by a son Joseph "Bud" Simpson, a brother Mac Hunter and a sister Louise Gosnell.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Sellers officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at her son's home at 323 Sierra St. in Gaffney. At other times the family will be at the Sierra Street home as well.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 Limestone St., Gaffney, 29340.

Joyce C. Batchelor
Tigerville postmaster
Joyce Cooksey Batchelor, 60, of 223 Christopher Road, Gaffney, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A native of Blacksburg, she was the wife of Rev. Lewis Batchelor and the daughter of the late William P. Cooksey and the late Ruby Roberts Cooksey.
She was the postmaster in Tigerville, S.C., and a member of Open Door Baptist Church. Her hobbies included singing and being with family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son Michael Batchelor of Spartanburg; two daughters, Kellie Cash of Spartanburg and Karen Hunt of Beckley, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Eden Stack, Jacob Stack, John Michael Batchelor, Nathan Batchelor and Caleb Batchelor; and two brothers, Gene Cooksey of Calhoun, Ga., and Ric Cooksey of Shelby, N.C.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Open Door Baptist Church with her husband, the Rev. Lewis Batchelor, officiating. Body will be placed in the church an hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Gary Cash, Joe White Jr., Sammy White, Jonathan White, Matthew Hass, Santos Ramos, Scott Coggins and Jason Elder. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Stack, John Michael Batchelor, Nathan Batchelor and Caleb Batchelor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Open Door Baptist Church building fund, 229 Edgewater Drive, Gaffney, S.C., 29340.

Corene D. Clary Cash
Member, Macedonia Baptist
Corene Dickson Clary Cash, 85, of 1950 Love Springs Road, Gaffney, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at Woodruff Manor.
A native of Spartanburg, she was the wife of Tillmon Cash of the home and daughter of the late Benjamin C. Dickson and the late Hester Haynes Dickson.
Mrs. Cash was retired from the textile industry and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Donnie Clary, Ronald Clary, Steve Cash and Ronald Cash, all of Gaffney; three daughters, Gail Long and Cathy Fowler, both of Gaffney, and Marie Brown of Boiling Springs, S.C.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Verle Davis and Cornelia Young, both of Clinton, Belvia Allen of Chesnee, Beulah Moore of Laurens, and Ailene Gossett of Spartanburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Theo Clary and two brothers Gerald Dickson and Clyde Hoyle Dickson.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Shuford Hatcher Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Millwood and Dr. Terry Duvall officiating. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Joey Scales, Randy Goodman, Matt Clary, Mark Clary, Brad Finch, Kim Brannon and Lewis Huskey.
The family is at the home of her son, Ron Clary, at 1984 Love Springs Road, Gaffney.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 110 S. Dean St., Spartanburg, S.C., 29302.

Doris Gibson Gordon
Member of Southside Baptist
Doris Gibson Gordon, 73, of 182 Oak Creek Circle, Gaffney, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at her home.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Forrest Gordon and daughter of the late Fred Gibson and the late Mildred McDaniel Gibson Robertson. She retired from the textile industry and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Jackie Gordon, Mickey Gordon and Randy Gordon, all of Gaffney; three daughters, Gloria Johnson, Dolores Morris and Rhonda Miller, all of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Keith Robertson of Pacolet.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Gibson and Earl Gibson; two sisters, Freddie Lee Carter and Lib Camby; and three grandchildren, Johnathon Miller, Harley Miller and Kenneth Morris Jr.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Wofford Caughman officiating. Body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Robertson, Van Gibson, Phillip Gibson, Bruce Bright, Casey Gordon, Rudy Sellers, Neil Durham, Mickey Bright, Cline Parker and Andy Phillips.
The family is at the residence.
