11 Indians advance to Upperstate

      Gaffney High wrestling coach Thomas Voelker was almost speechless after his team’s performance at Thursday’s Region III-4A tournament. Gaffney’s Randy Hopson claimed the region championship with a 4-3 win in the finals of the 140 lbs. weight class. Hopson will be joined by 10 other Indians at the Upperstate tournament on Feb. 19-20.

Gaffney edges Jackets; move closer to region championship

      The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets didn’t make as many three-pointers as they normally do. That was good news for the Gaffney Indians, who got 19 points from Dershawn Dawkins and 18 from Josh Corry to trip up the homestanding Yellow Jackets, 71-66, on Friday.

Lady Saints upset No. 2 Pfeiffer; improve to 10-5 in conference play

      The Limestone College women’s basketball team defeated Pfeiffer University 67-62 on Saturday night in an important Conference Carolinas contest. The Falcons, who entered tonight’s game at No. 2 in the league standings, fall to 11-4 in the conference (11-9 overall) while the Saints climb to 10-5 in the league (12-8 overall).

Phillips leads scoring as Lady Indians outlast Fort Mill

      Fortunately for the Lady Indians, the judges weren’t giving out any style points in their 46-40 workmanlike victory at Fort Mill on Friday. Kierra Phillips had 10 points and Logan Davis added 9 as the Gaffney Lady Indians finally opened up a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter.

Wildcats clinch playoff spot with win over Whitmire

     The Blacksburg Wildcats extended their season with a 57- 47 victory at Whitmire on Thursday. Darrell Walton had 11 points and J.J. Lattimore had 10 as the Wildcats clinched a playoff spot. Blacksburg built its lead to double digits in the third quarter and sealed the win with seven free throws in the final minutes.
