Littlejohn throws for 392 yards; not enough to defeat Bulldogs

ORANGEBURG (AP) — Michael Gaston’s 45-yard field goal in overtime gave South Carolina State a 38-35 win over Morgan State on Saturday.
Gaston was an unlikely hero after missing three of his five PAT attempts in a game that saw 1,172 yards of offense.
The Bulldogs (8-2, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic) can win a share of the conference title if they beat North Carolina A&T next week, but they won’t get the league’s automatic bid because they lost to Hampton, who has already clinched at least a share of the championship.
Bradshaw Littlejohn was 32-of-58 for 392 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears (4-6, 3-4). He also ran for 88 yards and a score on 15 carries.
Coty Martin ran for 104 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs, and Brett Young completed 20 passes for 382 yards on a school-record 41 attempts.
South Carolina State led 28-6 at half, but Morgan State started its comeback with a 57-yard touchdown run by Jason Jackson late in the third quarter. Jackson would carry the ball 14 times for 145 yards.
