‘Shrooms seized

Narcotics officers seized crack cocaine, mushrooms, marijuana and Xanax after raiding two Cherokee County homes Wednesday.

Just before 4 a.m., agents executed a search warrant at 527 6th St. and found two plastic bags containing about five grams of crack cocaine, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. Agents also seized $150 in cash.

Shawn Cory Jefferies, 32, of that address, is charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine in a warrant signed by Agent Al Phillips of the Narcotics Unit.

Shortly after that drug raid at 5 p.m., agents executed a search warrant at 349 Soapstone Road and seized 14 grams of mushrooms, 12.5 Alprazolam pills and less than six ounces of marijuana, another report at the sheriff’s office states. Police said they also seized $204 in cash.

Jeffery Austin Cole, 37, of that address, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, trafficking psilocybin (mushrooms), and possession of Alprazolam (Xanax), the report states.

Boy charged

A Ewing Middle School student was found with a weapon, drugs and tobacco products while at the school Thursday, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

The 13-year-old boy was allegedly showing other students what was believed to be drugs, the report states. School resource officer Audrey Jolly and other school officials located the boy outside the gym and escorted him to the school office, police said.

School officials seized a knife with a 4-inch blade, eight yellow pills, seven brown pills and a film case with what appeared to be a smoked marijuana blunt and a smoked cigarette, according to the report.

The boy was charged with possession of a weapon, possession of tobacco products, and possession of drugs, all of which were on school property, the report states.

Boy hits girl

Police arrested a 13-year-old Drayton boy Thursday after he allegedly hit a 13-year-old Gaffney girl in the face.

They were in the auditorium exchanging obscenities when the boy stood up and hit the girl in the right eye and face twice, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

The girl went to the school office and reported the assault, police said.

Armed robbery

Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a white man who officers say entered the Fast Fare Highpoint Convenience Store, 2809 Cherokee St., Blacksburg, and robbed the business at gunpoint, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

After demanding all the money in the register, the gunman took $57 in cash, the report states. He ran from the store toward a car wash at the North Carolina state line.

The man is described as about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask and a tan hooded coat, and was armed with a black automatic handgun.

Arrest made

An arrest has been made in the assault of a 16-year-old boy who was found unconscious outside a Gaffney nightclub in August.

Joshua D. Manning, 18, of 1007 W. Smith St., Gaffney, is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature in a warrant signed by Detective Lt. David Clary of the Gaffney Police Department.

Police found the victim outside Smitty’s Sports Club, 114 E. Birnie St., Gaffney, unconscious with a laceration and swelling to his lower lip and jaw, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

When the teen regained consciousness, he offered police no information regarding who assaulted him or why, the report states. Police overheard comments from witnesses who said a young black man with the street name “Yankee” started the fight with the boy and hit him with an unknown weapon, police said.

The victim refused any further assistance after being treated at Upstate Carolina Medical Center, according to police.

Woman dragged

A 45-year-old Cherokee Falls woman was dragged by a vehicle down Short Peeler Street and sustained very bad bruising and scratches to the right side of her face, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

Aguas Olin Alvarado, 35, of Smith Mobile Home Park, Lot 3, Gaffney, is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature by Detective Lt. David Clary of the Gaffney Police Department.

Police said Olin would not stop the car and dragged Sharon Stone, of 313 Roberts St., down the street near Long Peeler Street while she was attempting to exit the blue 1988 Honda Accord. The woman told police she feared for her life, the report states.

Scary time

A 28-year-old Gaffney woman had quite a scare when a white man kicked in her apartment door after she told him she didn’t have a phone he could use, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

Patricia Allison of 1022 W. Buford St., Apt. 1311, Gaffney, suffered scratches on her right arm and the right side of her face, the report states.

The man, described as in his early 20s, is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has red hair and brown eyes and was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans when he knocked on her Westwood Apartment door at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Once inside Allison’s home, the man struggled with her in the living room, knocking things over. He picked up a baby and “tossed” the child on the couch while moving another infant over with his foot, according to the report.

A Marlin 30/30 rifle with a scope and $400 in cash was taken, the report states.
