Special notices
n It’s time for the annual Gorski Cake Drive for disabled veterans. Cakes need to be taken to the Cherokee County Veterans office, located on the first floor of Peachtree Centre, no earlier than 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, and no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14. The Veterans Office will deliver the cakes to the Veterans Hospital. Organizers of the drive request that cakes be fruit cakes, pound cakes or angel food cakes.
Church events
n Southside Baptist Church will have a missions banquet on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. Rob and Phyllis Hefner, Southern Baptist missionaries to Brazil, will be guest speakers. The banquet is free, but reservations are needed; call 864-489-6504 or email office@gaffneysouthside. com.
Support groups
n AA meetings are held in Gaffney on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. on Carlisle Street in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend these meetings.

Meetings
n The Tuesday Woman’s Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Sidney Gosnell, 113 Brittany Road. Co-hostesses will be Mrs. Grady Randolph and Mrs. Gene Cooper. Dr. Gena Poovey, associate professor of music at Limestone College, will present a program of Christmas music. Members are reminded to bring an unwrapped toy and a loaf of home-baked bread. Members unable to attend are asked to notify one of the hostesses by noon Saturday.
