Two bags of counterfeit cash found at Days Inn
After finding a fake $20 bill in a cash register, an employee at a local motel found two bags containing counterfeit cash.
The Gaffney Police Department has turned the bags of evidence over to the United States Secret Service, the agency responsible for investigating counterfeiting, Capt. Chris Skinner said on Tuesday.
A member of the custodial staff at the Days Inn was checking the trash cans when he found a bag containing several counterfeit notes, some of which had not been cut from sheets of paper it was printed on and some of which had been cut away, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Detectives Sgt. Christy Poole and Capt. Chris Skinner and Officer Kevin Lancaster of the Gaffney Police Department responded to the Days Inn, 136 Peachoid Road, Gaffney, to collect the evidence, the report states.
The tenants in one of the rooms did not pay for their stay, according to the report.
