Large crowd on hand for pastor’s installation service at Shady Grove
A large crowd was on hand for formal installation service for Pastor and First Lady George and Catherine Henderson on Sunday, Nov. 28, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Bishop Anthony L. Jinwright, senior pastor of Greater Salem Church, Charlotte, delivered the sermon and installed the Hendersons.
The Shady Grove Youth Choir, the Shady Grove Praise Team and the Greater Salem Praise Team lead a pre-installation service. The Rev. Charles Pettiford, pastor of Rogers Grove Church International, Durham, N.C., was the presiding officer.
Pastor Henderson and his wife were escorted by Clarence and Marva Dover. Scriptures were read by William Cleveland and the Revs. Bobby Houze and L. C. Knuckles. The Rev. Billy Houze, pastor of First Baptist Church, Lawndale, N.C., sang “You Are The Living Word.”
Sommer Jones gave the welcome address while Harriet Porter-Jinwright gave the response. The Revs. Tony Macomson and Troy McDowell, both representatives of the Thickety Mountain Baptist Association, extended greetings along with Jeff Reid of Shady Grove.
A proclamation of congratulations on behalf of Cherokee County Council member Rufus H. Foster Jr. was read by Lucious Jones.
The Rev. John McCullough, a long-time friend of Pastor Henderson and pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Gastonia, N.C., introduced Bishop Jinwright. Bishop Kavin Campbell of Histeria, Calif., another long-time friend of the Hendersons, delivered the Prayer of Installation. The Shady Grove Church family then repeated the Congregational Response and Exhortation which was followed by the presentation of the church keys and gifts from the church ministries, including the deacons, trustees, deaconess board, music ministries, evangelism team, shepherd’s care, ushers, youth church, junior mission dance troupe and others.
Following the program, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
