Despite the buzz, nothing new at shopping center

This might make some local development officials cringe — a local shopping center official said late Friday he had no news to report about a potential new tenant for the Peachtree Marketplace.

Sources familiar with the negotiations have identified the new tenant as Lowe’s.

Marty Waters, owner and developer of Peachtree Marketplace, has neither confirmed nor denied Lowe’s would locate in the shopping center. His comment Friday was he “hasn’t heard a peep.”

He also said that Staple’s, a major office supply retailer, is not planning to put a store in the shopping center.
