Gaffney woman forced off road into oncoming traffic

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a report of a vehicle assault Friday on North Limestone Street.

Libby S. Yenchik, 38, of 130 Little Creek Drive, Gaffney, told police she was driving north on North Limestone Street about 5:40 p.m. when a white female attempted to stike her vehicle three times. The woman forced Yenchik into the oncoming lane of traffic.

Police have a suspect but no arrests have been made.

Gaffney Police investigate alleged swindling case

Gaffney police are investigating a possible case of fraud involving a man who was attempting to secure a loan from Hewitt Associates in New York City, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

A 41-year-old Gaffney man told police he was able to secure a $10,000 loan from Hewitt Associates, but was required to send $800 to obtain the loan, the report states. He also said the company made him send his bank account information for the loan to be deposited, police said.

The man told police he has called the company twice a day since early December but has not received his money back, his loan or any further information.

The company ran an advertisement in The Gaffney Ledger. The ad was withdrawn after complaints and allegations of fraud were made against the company.

House cleaned out by alleged burglars

A Gaffney woman returned home to find her living room furniture, dishes, washer and dryer, clothes, tools, bicycle and other household items were stolen from her residence at 123 Leadmine St., Gaffney, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

Selma Phillips, 44, told police that $4,500 worth of items were taken sometime between Nov. 28 and Dec. 15, the report states.

Local man hit, shot at

during alley assault

A Gaffney man told police someone fired several gunshots at him following an assault in an alley near 400 S. Logan St. in Gaffney, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

Juan T. Watkins, 28, told police an assailant hit him in the head and face before the assailant fired a 9 mm handgun at him several times in the alley behind a conveneince store at 406 S. Logan St. at 2 p.m. Thursday, the report states.

When police arrived, neither the victim nor the shooter were located. A report was later completed at the Gaffney Law Enforcement Center.

A suspect has been identified but no arrests have been made.
