Cowpens company buys facility here
Ledger Staff Writer
The former Fall River Manufacturing plant is off the market. Mermet, a manufacturer of tinting material, has purchased the 39,000 square-foot facility located on Huntington Drive. The manufacturer plans to use the facility for storage, said Jim Inman, director of the Cherokee County Develop-ment Board. Mermet plans to employ about 14 people at the facility, according to Inman. Mermet currently operates a manufacturing facility near the Cowpens Industrial Park on Hwy. 29. “We are glad to see Mermet increase their presence in the county,” Inman said. An attempt Thursday to reach Mermet Vice President Tim O’Grady was unsuccessful. Fall River Manufacturing closed the plant about three years ago.
