‘Officer’ faces drug charges

Police discovered marijuana and cocaine after responding to Charlie’s Tavern, 609 Rutherfordton Hwy., Chesnee, after receiving a report about a man impersonating an officer at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Mark Anthony Connor, 44, of Chesnee is charged by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office with impersonating a police officer, simple possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

Deputy R.W. Turner was searching Connor for weapons when the officer found a bag containing marijuana, the report states. Turner found cocaine in a bag in the front passenger seat of Connor’s vehicle, the report states.

Police said they found less than an ounce of each of the drugs.
