YOU CAN COUNT ON ME

- On November 20th, the GHS Math Team participated in the 27th Annual Winthrop-Wylie Mathematics Tournament in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The team consisted of six members and one teacher-coach.

Painter, math teacher at GHS, was the team coach.

The competition included a 40 question multiple choice test that was scored similarly to the SAT(Scholastic Aptitude Test). To prepare the team, Mrs. Painter conducted practice sessions prior to attending the tournament, which hosted 50 schools from across the state. The team plans to attend the Furman University Wylie Mathematics Tournament in March 2005. This tournament will be more rigorous for the team because it also includes a ciphering match in addition to the multiple choice portion.
