Gaffney tops Lady Trojans

The Northwestern Lady Trojans couldn’t handle Shelise Ratchford on Tuesday.
Ratchford scored 17 points and Latoya Robbs added 11 to lift the Lady Indians to a series sweep of Northwestern with a 61-54 victory.
Gaffney improves to 2-6 in region play.
Tiffany Posey’s basket put the Lady Indians up 46-36 with 6:40 left to play. The Lady Trojans pulled within seven but couldn’t draw any closer in the final minutes.
“We really played hard,” Gaffney coach Roger Patterson said. “But we are still turning the ball over too many times.”
Brittney Lebby had a game-high 26 points for Northwestern.
The Lady Indians controlled the game from the start, jumping out to an 18-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
After a Lady Trojans’ run, the Indians regained momentum to build a 41-32 after three quarters.
Gaffney will host Fort Mill on Friday.
“It’s a game we can win if we play well,” Patterson said.
