No changes planned for school principals

All Cherokee County principals and district administrators are expected to return to their same positions next school year.

There were no changes on a list of district administrators and 19 principals unanimously approved by school trustees at Tuesday’s board meeting.

Although no principals were assigned specific schools, superintendent Dr. Bill James said he does not plan any changes in current school assignments.

The district is in the second year of an elementary principal trainee program. Nan Ruppe (Alma Elementary), Ashley Blanton (Luther Vaughan) and Brian Linder (Mary Bramlett Elementary) are involved in the program.

There are a few school administrators who will retire under the state’s Teacher and Employee Retirement Incentive (TERI) program after Dec. 31. The district and employee can then enter into a letter of agreement so those employees can complete the school year.
