The Blacksburg Wildcats football program has received a boost from an unexpected source - the Gaffney Indians.
Trey Williams, a 5-8, 240-pound offensive guard, and Zack Vinson, a 5-11, 185-pound defensive lineman, have transferred to Blacksburg, according to Blacksburg High School officials.
Both players will be seniors next season.
Williams was a starter along the Indians’ offensive line for most of last season. Vinson was a backup defensive end.
The players and their families have relocated into the Blacksburg attendance area.

“The families have moved over here,” Blacksburg football coach and athletic director Robbie Blanton said. “We are getting a lot of people moving into our area. I just hope this works out for both young men.”
Blanton said the players have begun their offseason weightlifting and conditioning program with the team but he cautioned that their eligibility has yet to be finalized.
The players will be eligible to play next season if they meet the state’s athletic association’s “bonafide change of address” rule, according to a South Carolina High School League spokesperson.
The SCHSL rulebook defines a “bonafide change of address,” in part, as a move made with the intent of being permanent.
The Wildcats were on the other end of the transfer policy several weeks ago when leading rusher Quinton Hemphill moved to Charlotte.
