The Gaffney girls’ basketball team is on a roll - and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Shelise Ratchford had 16 points and Tiffany Posey added 15 to help the Lady Indians beat Rock Hill 58-30 Tuesday and extend their win streak to three games.

The Lady Indians (8-12, 4-5) have apparently clinched a playoff spot with the win. They are tied for third in the region with Rock Hill.

“We are playing better now,” Gaffney coach Roger Patterson said. “We are taking better care of the ball and shooting the ball better.”

The team is also making strides on the defensive end, he said.

Breanna Watkins had two threes and Latoya Robbs, who finished with 11 points, added a couple of baskets as the Lady Indians opened a 16-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Indians extended their advantage to 25-10 at the break.

The cushion grew to 39-15 at the end of the third quarter.

Ratchford had five points in that third-quarter run for the Lady Indians.

Shontae Wylie had 10 points to pace the Lady Bearcats.

The Lady Indians will end the regular season Friday at Lancaster, the region’s top seed.

“They are the best team in the region and we want to go there and play well,” Patterson said.
