Benefits n A benefit for Gary Richards will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, from 4-7 p.m. at New Song Community Church, corner of Cherokee and West John streets in Blacksburg. On the menu will be deer hash, salmon stew and hot dogs. Delivery will be made for five or more plates. Richards has been diagnosed with cancer and is facing travel away from home with his wife, Lynn. He will have to have multiple surgeries and ultimately reconstructive surgery. Notices n Blacksburg residents who wish to cast absentee ballots in the March 1 Town of Blacksburg City Council District 3 election may do so at the Voter Registration Office in the Peachtree Centre, 1434 N. Limestone St., Gaffney. Special events n Trinity A.M.E. Zion Lay Council is sponsoring a trip to the Anderson Flea Market and Pendergrass Flea Market in Georgia on Saturday, March 5.
