Church events
n Donna Douglas, who portrayed Elly May on “The Beverly Hillbillies,” will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 2929 Cherokee Ave., Sunday, April 3, at the 11 am. service. Ms. Douglas will sharing her testimony and singing. Born near Baton Rouge, La., she won several beauty competitions, including Miss Baton Rouge and Miss New Orleans, before landing her role on "The Beverly Hillbillies." Since the popular show ended, she has remained active in television and personal appearances.
n The J.W. Sanders Gospel Chorus of Island Creek Baptist Church, 2112 Battleground Road, Cowpens, will celebrate its anniversary Sunday at 5 p.m. Dr. Michael Bridges and the choirs and congregation of Concord Baptist Church will be special guests.
n McKowns Mountain Baptist Church will hold revival services April 3-6. Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday. The Rev. Tim Knotts of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, Blacksburg, will be the guest speaker. Special music will be provided at each service.
n The pastor of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church invites the public to attend the church's Noon Day Glory on Tuesday, April 5, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The public is also invited to attend Bible Study with the church family every Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. as well as every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
n Central Baptist Church, 500 E. Montgomery St., will have a special service Sunday at 5 p.m. The Rev. Vince Tharpe and his wife, Brenda, will be sharing a unique ministry, "Art Alive," which brings a dynamic message. Stroke by stroke, a scene from the Bible will unfold with rich, colorful realism. Rev. Tharpe uses art to communicate the gospel by producing pictures that seem to come alive with light and sound. Art Alive Ministries was founded in 1985. During his 19-year ministry, Rev. Tharpe has traveled over 550,000 miles, presented programs to more than 500,000 people, conducted 10 international crusades in Russia, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Brazil and Africa, and witnessed over 10,000 public decisions for Christ.
n Mikes Creek Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual youth revival April 4-7 at 7 p.m. Speakers will be: Monday, the Rev. Timothy F. Brown of Columbia; Tuesday, the Rev. Johnny M. Leggett of Monroe, Ga.; Wednesday, the Rev. Calbert Brantley of Charleston; and Thursday, the Rev. G. Lucian Ward of Montgomery, Ala.
Meetings
n Democratic Women will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at House of Pizza. Joe Erwin, chairman of the S.C. Democratic Party, will present the program.

n The Cherokee Red Hat Society will meet Tuesday, April 5, at 10:15 a.m. at the Prime Outlet Food Court for bingo and a day of shopping. Anyone interested in joining a Red Hat Society is invited to attend. For more information, call Joan Wood, 487-2725.
Fund raisers
n Mount Whitaker Baptist Church in Blacksburg will have an auction sale Saturday, at 11 a.m. Proceeds will go the church's youth group.
n A hot dog and fish sale will be held Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at CJ's Hot Rods Styling Salon, 312 W. Frederick St. Fish plates and hot dog plates will be $5 and a single hot dog will be $1. The fund raiser is sponsored by the Missionary Department of Way of Life Praise and Worship Center.
