The Cherokee County Disabilities and Special Needs Board provides a variety of services to people of all ages who have lifelong, disabling conditions. Through these support services, people with disabilities are provided opportunities to achieve and attain goals that may have seemed out of reach in the past.

The Timken Company has been contracting with the DSN Board since 1999 and providing opportunities for an enclave work crew of nine individuals that construct boxes on site.

The program has become quite a success for both Timken and the workers from the DSN Board.

The Timken Company receives quality products and reliable services while the DSN individuals benefit financially and feel like a productive part of The Timken family.

In addition to the daily working relationship that is maintained, the Timken Foundation recently awarded the DSN Board and Habilitation Services a grant to purchase a panel truck. This truck is used on a daily basis at the DSN Board’s Work Activity Center to pick up and deliver contract work to customers.

An additional eighty consumers work in the agency’s work center.

This support from the Timken Company is greatly appreciated. It assists the Cherokee County DSN Board with its mission of serving people who have lifelong disabilities such as mental retardation, autism or head or spinal cord injury.

This is accomplished through a variety of work, residential, and support services.
