Harriette Blackwell
Sister of Gaffney resident
HARTSVILLE – Harriette Blackwell, 76, widow of Robert Vernon Blackwell, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005.
Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Allen W. and Elizabeth Allen Askins. She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Hallie Byrd Circle, XYZ Seniors Group, and taught Sunday School for the children's class. She was a member of the flower visuals committee of the church, member of the DAR, Civinettes and Coker College Alumni Association.
Surviving are her son, Robert A. Blackwell of Hartsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Claire B. and Michael Moser of Seymour, Tenn.; sisters, Betsy S. Humphries of Gaffney, Ann Thompson of West Columbia and Nancy McClure and husband, Walter, of Fort Mill; grandchildren, Carson Blackwell, Candace West, Meghan Moser and Andrew Moser; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Ben and Dora Gafford. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

John P. Loftis
Machinist
John Phillip Loftis, 35, of 397 Old Race Track Road, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, in Gaffney.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of the late John Malcomb "J.M." Loftis and the late Phyliss Wyolene Ramsey Loftis. He was a machinist and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Chelsea Loftis of Cowpens; a son, Johnny Loftis of Cowpens; and a sister, Deanna Loftis Blanton of Gaffney.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Alan Peeler and Harold Dean Painter.
The family is at the home of his sister, Deanna Blanton, 375 Old Race Track Road.

Barbara F. Worrall
Gaffney native
Barbara Price Fox Worrall, 79, of Jeffersonville, Ind., died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in Community Hospital East, Indianapolis, Ind.
A native of Gaffney, her first husband was the late William Fox and her second husband was the late A.L. Worrall. She was the daughter of the late Frank Price and the late Polly Sparks Price and was a homemaker and member of Utica United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, William Fox of Denison, Texas, and Alan Fox of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth P. Delashmet, Rebecca P. Blanton and Brenda P. Vassy, all of Gaffney; and a brother, William "Buck" Price of Gaffney.
Services were held Friday, April 22, in Jeffersonville, Ind., where burial was in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

James W. Saddler
Retired from Burton Dixie
James Walker Saddler, 84, formerly of 515 N. Mountain St., Blacksburg, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, in Century Care of Gastonia, Gastonia, N.C.
Husband of Nora Phelps Saddler of Harve de Grace, Md., he was born in Cleveland County, N.C., a son of the late Joe and Marie Saddler. He was a member of Bethel C.M.E. Church and a retired employee of Burton Dixie Corp.
Also surviving are three sons, Willie Saddler of Charlotte, Mackie Dean Saddler of Harve de Grace and Larry Saddler of Randallstown, Md.; a sister, Ida Wray of Kings Mountain; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are incomplete. The Gilmore Mortuary is in charge.
LeFoy Blanton
Gaffney native
SMYRNA – LeFoy Blanton, 65, of 971 McGill Road, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, in Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of the late G.W. Blanton and the late Lillie Patterson Blanton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg.
Surviving are a son, Lee Blanton of Smyrna; two daughters, Annie Laura Hamrick of Hickory Grove and Sudie Gelok of Blacksburg; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8:30 at Gordon Mortuary and at other times they will be at the home of Lee Blanton, 218 Blanton Love Road, Smyrna.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Angela D. McCluney
Services for Angela Denise McCluney, 35, of 4818 Jay St., Northeast, Washington, D.C., will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Revs. L.C. Roberts and James McCluney. Burial will be in Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
The family will be at the home of her aunt, Daisy Dover, 621 Gardner St., Gaffney.

Ronnie L. Dukes
U.S. Marine veteran
Ronnie L. Dukes, 43, of 600 N. Limestone St., died Thursday morning, April 28, 2005, on Hwy. 18.
Son of Robert Littlejohn of Gaffney and Lula Dukes of Stamford, Conn., he was born on June 25, 1961, in Stamford. He was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church, a U.S. Marine veteran and a high school graduate.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his stepmother, Inez Littlejohn of Gaffney; three sisters, Elizabeth Ann Dukes Johnson of Stamford, Gilida Dockery of Charlotte and Dr. Hellna Peeler of Santee; a brother, Robert Littlejohn Jr. of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and two nieces and one nephew.

SPARTANBURG – Services for Ben James Brackett, 81, of 118 Overbrook Drive, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Island Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
The family is at the home of his sister, Ruby Hayes, 101 Applewood Lane, Spartanburg, and at the home of his wife, Clara Wood Brackett, 512 W. Frederick St.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, James E. Brackett of Gaffney, Marion T. Brackett of Brooklyn, N.Y., George Oliver and Jeffrey Marsh of Spartanburg; a daughter, Vera Brownlee of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Ruby Hayes of Spartanburg and Lillian Hunter of Cowpens; and four brothers, Rev. Dr. A.L. Brackett of Union, Ace (A.H.) Brackett of Brooklyn, N.Y., Wintford Brackett of Woodbridge, Va., and Douglas Brackett of Spartanburg.

Services for Roger Lindsay, 43, of 304 Vermont Dr., husband of Virginia Ann Coleman Lindsay, will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Les Howell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.

Retired cook from Thickety
Mountain Fish Camp
Azilee Camp Valentine, 81, of 308 2nd Ave., died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at 12:10 p.m. at her residence.
Daughter of the late Miles Camp Sr. and the late Madie Morgan Camp, she was a native of Cherokee County and member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church. She was a retired cook from Thickety Mountain Fish Camp.
Surviving are five daughters, Betty Happolo of Morganton, N.C., Katie Hughes of Cowpens, Lestine Dawkins, Mandeline Studyvance and Alice Dawkins of Gaffney; two sons, Clyde Valentine of the home and the Rev. Tommy Valentine of Gaffney; five sisters, Geraldine Morris, Eloise Leach, both of Gaffney, Tecola Wood of Glenarden, Md., Ophilia Elliston of Bridgeport, Conn., and Isabell Talon of Thomasville, N.C.; four brothers, James Camp of Chicago, Ill., Miles Camp Jr. of Gaffney, Leonard Camp and Buford Camp, both of Cleveland, Ohio; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
