Developer wants Hwy. 29 property
By LARRY HILLIARDLedger Staff Writer
A city-owned property soon could change hands.
Gaffney Mayor Henry Jolly said a North Carolina developer has made a "handsome offer" for a city-owned 2-acre parcel on Hwy. 29 adjacent to the Thicketty Mountain Association property.
Jolly declined comment on the specifics of the offer or what the developer's plans are for the site.
Jolly said the city's Building and Grounds Committee will discuss the issue prior to the regularly scheduled council meeting at 7 p.m. today. Jolly said the committee will make a recommedation to council.
The Building and Grounds Committee will also update council on the city hall project.
The city Sanitation Committee's report concerning garbage collection inside the city limits is the last item for discussion on tonight's sparse agenda.
