Meetings

n Team captains of the Cherokee County Relay for Life will meet tonight at 6 in the Human Resources Building at The Timken Company. Each team is encouraged to send a representative to this important meeting. The Cherokee County Relay for Life, a 12-hour event of the American Cancer Society, will be held from 7 p.m. Friday, May 13, until 7 a.m. on Saturday, may 14, at the Timken Track on Hwy. 29.

Reunions

n The Mayes and Gordon family reunion will be held on August 6. For more information, contact Cathy Douglas, 487-2250.

n Members of the Gaffney High School Class of 1995 that have not been contacted about the coming reunion are asked to call 489-7511 or e-mail gaffneyclassof95@yahoo.com and give a mailing address so that information may be sent by the planning committee.

Support groups

n Al-Anon meetings will be held every Wednesday at 8 p.m. at 117 Carlisle Street, a building located behind Limestone Street Methodist Church. If someone you care about has a problem with alcohol these meetings are for you.

n AA meetings are held in Gaffney on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights at 8 p.m. on Carlisle Street in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend these meetings.

n Do you think you have a problem with drugs? If so, Narcotics Anonymous can help. NCAA’s Helpline number is 1-800-828-5689.

Fund raisers

n The Blacksburg Rotary Club will have a barbecue plate sale on Saturday, May 7. Plates can be picked up at the new Blacksburg Primary School or at the Gaffney Senior Center on Rutledge Avenue in Gaffney. Barbecue will be served from 11 a.m. until it’s sold out. Plates are $6 each and include barbecue, slaw, potato wedges and tea.

Church events

n Rehoboth Baptist Church, 110 Rehoboth Road, is having revival services through Wednesday. Services are at 7 p.m. Speaker tonight will be the Rev. Mike Frazier, pastor of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church; speaker Tuesday will be Dr. Terry Duvall, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church; and speaker Wednesday will be Dr. Robert Kirby Jr., pastor Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Special music will be presented each night and a nursery provided.
