James Batchler’s ridiculous statement
Dear Editor:
I read with great interest the article in your paper about the city versus the county in garbage pickup. It is amazing how Mr. Batchler can make a statement that he would not consider picking up trash in the city. Does he not understand that the people living in the city are CHEROKEE COUNTY residents, who pay CHEROKEE COUNTY taxes?
He and the CHEROKEE COUNTY council apparently do not realize that they represent all CHEROKEE COUNTY residents. Are we only second class citizens whose only purpose is to fund the CHEROKEE COUNTY budget?
It is time for the city and county to come together and work for the betterment of all CHEROKEE COUNTY residents. However, if the county does not want to work with the city, maybe the next time the CHEROKEE COUNTY courthouse is on fire, THE CITY OF GAFFNEY fire department should not respond to the fire. Doesn’t that sound ridiculous? Just like Mr. Batchler’s statement.
