Mr. Owens was a member of Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church and an employee of Timken Corporation. He was the son of the late Summie O. and Laura Arrowood Owens.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel Bowen Owens of the home; stepson, Justin Daves of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Roger Owens of Shelby; and three sisters, Jessie Queen, Margaret Beam, both of Shelby, and Betty Botts of Casar.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lutz-Austell Funeral Chapel, conducted by Minister Ralph Queen. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.

for 42 years
Kenneth Warren Owens, 64, of 121 Chaucer Road, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at his home.
A native of Trion, Ga., he was the husband of Eleanor Clary Owens and son of the late Edward Anderson Owens and the late Gladys Woods Owens. He graduated from Trion schools and Carlisle Military Academy in Bamberg. He attended the University of South Carolina and was an avid Carolina fan.
Mr. Owens was a member of the Gaffney Jaycees that participate in many community projects. He began his textile career at Magnolia Finishing Company in 1963 and was instrumental in founding the first Explorer Scout Troop at Magnolia. Active in Scouting for most of his life, he was an Eagle Scout and earned the God and Country Award. Mr. Owens was employed by Milliken for 42 years as Director of Customer Support.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter and son-in-law, Meredith O. and Christopher L. Jones of Greenville; three brothers, Wallace Owens of Mt. Airy, Ga., “Pete” Owens of North Augusta, S.C., and Louis Owens of Simpsonville; and two grandchildren, Owen Tyler Jones and Olivia Grace Jones.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashlyn Paige Jones.
A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by Dr. Bobby Morrow.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 121 Chaucer Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenwood Genetic Center, Autism Research, 1 Gregor Mendal Circle, Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

James “Jack” Green, 87, of 406 Marion Ave., died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at his home.
Born on July 27, 1917, in Gaffney, he was the husband of Grace Green and son of the late James “Jim” Green and the late Florence Wood Green. He was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and superintendent of the Sunday School. He was owner and retired mechanic of Jack Green Garage
Surviving in addition to his wife are six daughters, Annie Medley of Stratford, Conn., Mary Adams, Mattie Cobb, both of Bridgeport, Conn., Yvonne Medley of Marietta, Ga., Edna Driessen of Hilton Head Island and Helen Allen of Raleigh, N.C.; five stepchildren, Johnell Knuckles of Columbia, Grace Wood, Nancy Knuckles, Ethel Alexander of Gaffney and Cledyth Pearson of Columbia, Ga.; four brothers, Rev. B.C. Green of Texica, Texas, Billy Green of High Point, N.C., McArthur Green of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ben Henry Green of Vaux Hall, N.C.; three sisters, Sara Valentine of Chicago, Ill., Ruth Harris of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Jimmie McCullough of Columbia; 22 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Green was preceded in death by brothers, Jerome Green, Leroy Green, Bobby Green and Elworth Green, and three sisters, Betty Dawkins, Mary Etta Smith and Dorothy Mae Bonner.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. C.A. Wallace, Dewey Whittenburg, Willie Mayes, L.T. Tate and Dr. U.D. Vernon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Melvin Roberts Sr.
Gaffney native
Melvin Roberts Sr., 92, of 8078 Lincoln Road, Verona, Pa., died Thursday, May 5, 2005, in Pittsburgh Hospital.
Mr. Roberts was born on June 23, 1912, in Gaffney. He was the last survivor of the Granard High School Class of 1930. He was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Pittsburgh.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Morgan of Charlotte; a son, Melvin Roberts Jr. of Verona, Pa.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roosevelt Roberts of Cleveland Ohio.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Pittsburgh.
Ralph B. Wilkins
Spartanburg native
Ralph Bernard Wilkins died April 30, 2005, in St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, Conn.
Mr. Wilkins was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Spartanburg. He moved to Hartford in 1969 and was employed by Advo System for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He attended and was baptized at the Old Ship of Zion Baptist Church in Hartford.
Surviving are his mother, Gladys Russell; wife, Mary Wilkins of East Hartford, Conn.; daughters, Dana Wilkins, Gwendolyn Fernanders of Cowpens, Denise Wilkins of East Hartford, and LaToya Wilkins of Windsor, Conn.; two stepdaughters, Diane Cox and Palmyra Williams of Tallahassee, Fla.; sons, Allen of Gaffney and Sean Wilkins; stepson Julius Grier of East Hartford; sisters, Christabel Brezeale of Newport News, Va., and Doris Anderson of Cowpens; brothers, Willie Gary, Charles Russell of Cowpens and James Russell of Goldsburg, N.C.; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wilkins was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Russell; his grandparents; and a brother-in-law, James Earl Anderson.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Cowpens, conducted by the Rev. McKinney Miles. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
