Coon dog stolen
A coon dog that its owner said was valued at $8,000 was killed this weekend while the animal and its owner were hunting along Quarter Round Road in Gaffney. Thomas F. Wilson, 50, of Belmont, N.C., told sheriff’s deputies he and his dog were coon hunting in the early morning hours on Sunday when his dog failed to return, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office states. Wilson used a tracking device tuned into a special tracking collar the dog wears to locate his dead dog at the home of David Winstead, 46, of 854 Quarter Round Road, Gaffney, police said. Winstead told police the dog was attacking his cat and he attempted to scare it away by first shooting into the air, according to the report. When the dog wouldn’t stop, he said he shot the dog, the report states.
Woman arrested for pointing gun
Gaffney police have arrested a 44-year-old Blacksburg woman for allegedly pointing a weapon at a man, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states. Detective Sgt. Ron Ramsey Jr. of the Gaffney Police Department has charged Tina Ann Hopp Ochs of 118 Summit Drive, Blacksburg, with pointing a firearm, the report states. She was arrested Thursday. Ochs allegedly pointed a 9 mm pistol at James Erik Ochs on Wednesday while they were in the 300 block of Holmes Street in Gaffney.
Man shoves officer
A Gaffney man will face an additional charge after he shoved a police officer who was attempting to arrest him, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office claims. Agent Kevin Wilson of the Cherokee County Metro Narcotics Unit was attempting to arrest 26-year-old Brian “Boss Hog” Austell Davidson, of 633 4th St., Gaffney, Wednesday afternoon on a warrant for a probation violation. Davidson also faces a charge of resisting arrest. Davidson shoved Wilson and took off running, the report states. Wilson and Narcotics Agent Joey Guyton stopped Davidson after the suspect fell once and continued running. Davidson continued to resist being arrested and continued to struggle with police briefly before he complied and was taken into custody, police said.
Busted for dope
Narcotics agents arrested two Gaffney men on drug charges after police executed a search warrant Wednesday evening at a Chatam Avenue home. Agents with the Cherokee County Metro Narcotics Unit raided the home of Kenneth Ray Duvall, 45, of 406 Chatam Ave., Gaffney, at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office states. Agents found less than five grams of marijuana, a gram of methamphetamine and one Hydrocodone pill, according to authorities. Duvall has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana, the report states. Another man at the home, 38-year-old Charles Edward Mullinax, of 108 Monroe St., is charged with possession of Hydrocodone, police said.
Home damaged by shooting
Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting early Friday morning. No one was hurt but a home on Chesnee Highway was damaged when three bullets struck the dwelling, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office states. The home of William C. Greer of 715 1/2 Highway 11 East, Chesnee, was damaged by the 2:45 a.m. gunfire, the report states.
