Voelkert – Weant

Jonathan Alan Weant and Laura Melissa Voelkert Daniel Voelkert of Burlington, N.C., announces the engagement of his daughter, Laura Melissa, to Jonathan Alan Weant, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Gary Weant of Dallas, N.C.

Miss Voelkert is also the daughter of the late Neva Dennis Voelkert and granddaughter of Theta Bost Dennis of Gaffney and the late Lloyd Edwin Dennis.

Miss Voelkert graduated as salutatorian from Cummings High School in Burlington. She majored in sacred music at LenoirRhyne College in Hickory, N.C., graduating summa cum laude in May 2005.

Mr. Weant is a graduate of North Gaston High School in Dallas and graduated summa cum laude from LenoirRhyne College with a double major in philosophy and theology with a minor in German.

An August 20 wedding is planned at Macedonia Lutheran Church in Burlington.
